It's not bad enough I'm a "sap" for dinnerware, but so is my honey. Now, I am very thankful my honey likes dishes as much as I do, but...we have nine complete sets of dinnerware/china. Nine. We'd have more but I (never my honey) have to say "no," when we see plates like these Pheasant salad plates from Pottery Barn.
Last year we bought brown transfer dinnerware plates of wild turkeys to go with our two sets of white dishes for autumn meals. I actually was thinking of getting brown leaf bowls to 'marry' the colors...Argh! I need help.
"Hi. I'm Janean and I am a dish junky....."
However, I read Between Naps on the Porch blog about a dish room! Okay, so why not put a dish pantry into the barn house plans @ Old Sweetwater? My honey's eyes lit up. Yeah, we're pretty hopeless. Any other dish junkies?

I saw that dish room too. It goes on my wish list for my some day "dream house"♥ I'm a dish junkie too, but my dish love is somewhat unrequited. I refuse to buy dishes when I have nowhere to store them. I need a bigger house!
You've got Nine??? How big is your family, great for dinnerparty's! I recognize the problem, my sister has is too, lucky for me so I can always borrow things from her. Saves me a lot of money :-)) which I can spent on other things!
Sorry, I can't sew.
Have a nice day!
Love, Karin
love the plates!!!
cannot help with the monogram though, i hope you find someone. cos it looks great.
Sounds like fun having a hubby that loves the same things you do!
I also love dishes, but with our budget there has to be a choice made . . . "buy dishes, or buy food to put ON the dishes we already have". Believe me, it's an easy choice! Blessings, Becky
Oh you have a beautiful blogg,Ilove to visit you,so many nice picture,I will come again,

All my dishes are mis matched. many broken through the years. Love that little tea towel. So glad you stopped by for a visit. Blessings!

Beautiful. I love dishes, too, but we do not have room for one more dish.
Blessings, andrea
Hi Janean!
Great photos! Love your blog, and yes I'm a dishaholic too! AND so is my hubby too!! LOL dishes are just a lot of fun, too bad we have to store all of them though.
Hugs, Sherry
Waw! What a beautiful table set!!! I like monograms either!
A nice new week for you!

Hi Janean, Thank you for your sweet comment. I've never seen your blog before, so I spent some time browsing your history. You are a talented writer. I'm going to be watching the progress of your shed/garage. I still sew with my first 1969 Singer. I pictured it on an older post. I'm lucky it still sews a straight stitch - ha. I've been waiting 30 years for it to break down to get a new one. Take care.
Oh my gosh....this setting is absolutely gorgeous!!! I would love to have something like this....AND something with dolphins. LOLOLOL
I do hope you don't mind that I begin to follow you and your blog posts. I'm gonna!!! :o)
Hello, thank you for visit:)))
Your blog is very interesting and beautiful!
Have a nice day

I wish I was a dish junkie...sadly, I only have 8 dinner plates, 3 bowls, a couple of salad plates and 2 platters of my "everyday" dishes. I think I may have a few plates in my china, but that's all! I'm still using a few plastic plates/bowls that I used to have in college about 10 years ago! How sad is that?! My aunt however is a dish junkie...but I think you've got her beat. I think that she only has 8 complete sets!

WOW I wish I even had room to even "try" to have 9 sets of dishware!! Those monogrammed napkins would look beautiful for Thanksgiving!
I am completely hopeless. I just bought 8 dinner plates and 8 salad plates of Woodland Spode.
I am obsessed with birds right now- I love the pheasant plates.
I took the rod out of a closet in my utility room and had deep shelves installed- now I have a little (faux) butler's pantry.
Enjoyed visiting-
tangerines that have ripened on the tree are amazing.

that's funny a "dish junkie!!" I am a material junkie, can't get enough of it!!

Hi Janean:
What a lovely blog you have and I love the name "Old Sweetwater Cottage."
Thank you for coming by and saying hi.
How cool is that; you and your sweet husband share in fun collection.
In a previous post you showed us the Cockrell Mercantile; wow, how great is that store!!! To be greeted and graciously offered a real ceramic cup of coffee or tea!!!
Missouri is a down home state; My Dad was born in Kansas City many moons ago and he kept the small town feel for all of us : ) I am 60 and still remember the warmth he shared with us!!!
I am going to keep an eye on you and follow you : )
Hugs

I love those plates, very pretty. And yes I'm still dreaming of the dish room tooo. My first visit to your blog, very nice. I hope you stop by to visit soon.
Sandy
I wish my hubby shared my passion for dishes. I'd be buying them all the time. And when you find such good deals at thrift shops, it seems irreverant to leave them there.
I have 6 sets if you count my MIL.
Three sets I don't like to use.
Thanks for coming by.
I am so jealous you have nine. That is a dream come true! Yes, you need a China room!
Yes Maam.... sign me up. Incurable dish Junkie...I admitt it. How wonderful to be married to one also! Lucky girl!!! Love those plates...xoxo~Kathy @ Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Hey Janean, I just had a great time catching up on your posts. OK, the one on word verification. so funny, and you are such a wit, then all the dishes and the gorgeous leaves and houses! what a wonderful blog you have. I'm putting you on my blog list so I can do a better job of keeping up!
hugs,
Debra

Oh no, I'm a dish junky too. Did you have to give it a name? I don't want rehab for this, it's too much fun :-)
Blessings,
Marcia
Dear Janean,
Thank You so very much for the sweet comment you gently left on my blog in regards to the passing of our daughter, Amy.
It is during such a time as that, one needs all the hugs they can receive.
I love your blog..and I love the name of it.
You are a very beautiful and talented woman and how blessed you are to have a husband who shares your passion.
your dishes are very elegant.
I love dishes also. They excite me and inspire me...unfortunately I am a peasant...lol
Have a blessed week

Janean, we have something in common. I love dishes as well. I love love collecting them.
Hmmm, can I have some of yours? Heheh, just joking.
Hope your thanksgiving is well.
My husband and I just had this same discussion this past weekend! We too love dishes and are always adding to our collection...our favorite is Ironstone...he acutally said he wished we had more sets! We already have 5 different sets but I am always happy to get more especially since he's okay with it! ;-)
I too adore dishes, but since I'm content with our comfortable, affordable 3-bedroom ranch, there is no space. I would like to have a lovely cupboard to store them in though and then I know I'd buy more. :) Maybe someday.
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm a dish junky too. I have dishes for every season and just beautiful dishes for everyday and everything! Everytime someone will come for dinner they always comment on beautiful dishes...
You have a nice blog. I'm going to look forward to following!
Deborah
I'm definitely a "dish junkie". I could also definitely use a dish storage room. In my dreams though. No place to add one here in our home, and no plans to move anytime in the near future. I do have a walk-in attic space that my husband installed shelves in just for dishes. Wish it were closer to the dining room, but at least I have a place for storage. I really like these dishes and your napkins. I don't have a machine that monogram. Wish I did.
I really like your blog and have just added myself as a follower. Thanks for stopping by. I'm so happy I found your site. ~ Sarah
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love love love your pictures. They are so beautiful and the angles are great. I am going to have to check more of your site out.. See ya around. Cathy
