Silly Me Sunday

It stopped raining enough for us to start laying the bottom sill made from treated lumber (upper left photo). Yay! Then it started raining and the temperatures dropped again.  *sigh*

"Ya know what? This drizzling rain makes for a great opportunity to go to Barnes and Noble." I suggested.

Thirty minutes later we were sitting with two steaming cups of java as we scrunched down on two amber colored leather chairs. We had arms-full of books to look at ------ Heavenly!  A couple of hours later, we returned with rested minds and bodies...and a book.

Back to the grind!

Any other Barnes and Noble fans? Borders fans? What kind of coffee do you drink in your favorite book store?

Hi Janean, Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by and paying me a visit at "theycallmeganky". You asked why they call me Ganky-- When my oldest Granddaughter, Autumn, was a baby... I tried to get her to call me Granny, it came out Ganky and now EVERYONE calls me Ganky:) I like that better. Grandchildren can call you whatever they want to. Autumn will be 14 this Wednesday. I have been Ganky for a long time:) I read back on you posts to get to know you a little better. I love the Rusty truck, the story about how you pumped up your husband a the home improvement store and got a thumbs up from the dudes in line:) I am still reading but wanted to let you know that all comments on my blog are cherished-expecially new friends! Blessings from Georgia!!!!

Hello Janean! Thank you for stopping by! Your blog is lovely! I have a love of rust too hehe : ) A little patina or chippy paint is beautiful too. I have a passion for these things and making new creations out of the old. It makes life a challenge and is fun. I also share your faith and I continually give glory to God for all of His blessings that He gives me! What a gift He has given us to find beauty in what others think is useless. Keep in touch!

We don't have either of those bookstores up here. There's a Chapters, but I like the local, independents. When we go across the line to Washington and Oregon we always stop at a Borders and the 'quick stop' inevitably turns into an hour or more.
I like a soup bowl-sized cappucino!

I usually order something naughty that I wouldn't make at home, like a moca latte or something. And you must have a pastry while you're there too. I'm sure it's a rule or something! I like looking at cookbooks and the photojournalistic books on cowboys. But then I end up in the Native American Studies or in the section with Evanovich or Elizabeth Lowell and buy books that I'll have read in three days or less!

It's drizzly here and you have given me a great idea. I will head on to Barnes and Noble, and order a regular coffee, sprinkle cinnamon and cocoa powder, with cream, well half and half (wished it was true cream).
Glad you thought of it.
Happy Sunday,

Betsy

Coffee smells devine and that sure looks yummy...but. I don't like coffee in any form or shape. If it has a hint of it in something, I can taste it. But give me a hot caramel apple cider and I am as happy as a lamb!

Hi Janean,

Thanks for stopping by my site. I'm Rylan and it is nice meeting you.

Isn't the cold weather the perfect time to go to Barnes and Noble, to read a book and have a cup of coffee?--specially here in Vegas, it gets super hot during the summer but super cold in the winter.

Bookstores, love em' but I have never just hung out. Not sure why and I might have to correct that because that foaming cup of delight looks quite good.
Love that old rusty truck...my the places it has been...wish I knew.

I'm a Starbucks fan but I'd rather make it myself at home in my jammies in the morning ;)

Yahooo..one of my favourite things to do...I have always wanted to own a bookstore. We do not have those bookstores in Canada..but we do have Chapters which is very similar ....they all have Starbucks...hot yummy drinks and books just go together!

What inviting photos! I love Barnes and Noble. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so I usually get chai tea or something like that. Hope you're having a good weekend!

Once again I am back -- enjoying reading -- I am a sucker for any book store -- I can spend hours and hours -- Libraries are the best you know -- cause you can stay there all day. But when it comes to siting down to read I prefer to read in my reading room -- with a cup of warm apple juice near and even at times a few shortbread cookies -- yum ---

I used to love going to B&N...well, I still do, but just haven't had much time to since the birth of our son. I have gone a few times with him, but catering to the demands of a little toddler isn't quite as relaxing as it used to be when I'd visit there by myself! And I love myself a nice hot cup of coffee! Coffee, books/magazines and a cozy place to rest=Heaven on Earth! Glad you got some of that today!

There will come a day when my children are a little more grown and I will have the freedom to spend hours in a chair at Barnes and Noble once more. For now it's one of our favorite, rare, date nights. Big Love. That's what we feel for book stores, especially Barnes and Noble.

Barnes and Noble is always a stop on date night. We both get coffees (if I am being good I will get a skinny vanilla latte..if I am being back a pumpkin spice latte or something similar) and sit down after we find lots of books to go through. I never leave empty handed!!!

Thanks for the visit! I've enjoyed my visit here very much!

I can definitely relate to the "rusty and out of gas"! And the praying squirrels are wonderful ~ I love squirrels! Oh yes, I love bagels too!

Have a joy-filled week!

Unfortunately for me, both book stores Barnes and Noble and Borders are about 25 minutes from my house. So I don't get there much. I wish they were closer! They must have great coffee!

Going to Barnes and Noble and reading in the cafe area is one of my FAVORITE things to do! When I was in grad school, and my husband was studying for the CFA exam, we'd spend hours there over the weekend pouring over our books and sipping hot chocolate.. fond memories! :)

i get into a borders or barnes & noble whenever i can, but sadly there are none in my country, so it has to be when i travel. oh well, it makes it that much more of a treat. but i always get a double latte when i'm there.

yesterday, i found a marvelous used bookstore in copenhagen and i think i'm going to ask them if i can just move it. it had The Perfect atmosphere!

thanks for stopping by my blog so that i was led to yours...it seems you're in building mode as we eternally are. :-)

Hi Janean,

I am definitely a Barnes & Noble gal. I worked there 10 years ago while my kids were in school during the day. My fave job ever!

My kids were raised hanging out in bookstores with me...we still go and I love a good mocha to peruse the books with - that is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time!

Thank you for stopping by my blog, I appreciate it! Your blog is wonderful! Have a great day!
