It Marks the Spot
Aye, when you look at me Pirate's Map, an "X" marks the spot where you can find me treasure. Uh-oh, I don't think a scallywag, smelly , rotten , greedy sly pirate worth her peg leg should have told bloggy readers. Argh! Anyway, I'm going to feature furniture that has an X in its design. Do you have any furniture like these examples? Are there any other moms, grandmas, aunts, sisters, swash-bucklin' fightin' pirates? Now comment or be prepared to walk the plank!

Outdoor Lazy Day Beds...
We walked into the store and it *spoke* to me. I nearly ran up to it. "It" was a romantic canopied day bed! I wanted to take it home right then and there even though the price tag was triple of what I would normally spend. The brakes came because I could not (and still cannot) figure out how to keep it on a screened porch and it not get mildewy. I walked away, but six years later still sigh when I remember it. Does anyone else adore them? Does anyone have a solution to my mildew concern? Okay, so the last photo is not so practical, but a girl can dream...and in the desert -- no mildew! LOL.

pinky swear...
Did you ever *pinky swear?* Most popular with school aged children; it's when two people entwine their pinky fingers and make a promise to each other. Is this done all around the world?
Originally, if you broke the promise you were to cut off your pinky finger. YIKES!
I know a lot of you adore pink, so I'm taking this opportunity to show some more pink. Feel the LUV!

Going Gray is Stylish
Whenever a company wants to show how outdated their competitor is, or their product, their marketing strategy is to a GRAY haired person liking it. I guess marketing firms know "gray" is the *kiss of death* to a product unless it's arthritis medication; gastric products or insurance. (Keep reading. It gets better) A case in point were the MAC computers versus PC commercials....okay, *PC* wasn't gray, but he WAS *fuddy-duddy* looking...wearing his dockers, outdated glasses and hair style.
A--ny---way, gray is the NEW neutral so it's modern and hip now, at least in interior design and decor! Here are some beautiful rooms with shades of gray from blue or cool gray to warm gray. Would you be willing to try it in decor? Have you gone gray or do you *hide* it? I like to think I work WITH my gray...adding blond to it. *wink* Photos: Gray walls with a hint of purple; Warm gray bedroom; Cement Gray bath; Platinum Gray Dining; Dove Gray seating; Soft Gray Bedroom; Steel Gray Powder Room and just two fabulous examples of why GRAY is stylish!

Bakers Rack
From the early 17th century, bakers racks have been used to cool hot items because the heat-conducting metal of the rack allows for heat to be quickly transferred from a hot pan to the shelf. I've had a bakers rack in my home half of my married life. The one at Old Sweetwater holds all of our every-day dishes, a couple of bowls and platter. Bakers Racks are great inside, on the porch or in the garden. Any other bakers rack people out there? Photos: On the porch; Decor idea from magazine - Little Bear Studio reprint; Table Top Bakers Rack; In the garden (cannot remember the blog site - so sorry); made larger using two corner bakers racks; wooden base bakers rack; bakers rack with drawers; smaller more modern version; Sams Bakers Rack (bread not included *sad face* - LOL)

Chartreuse....mmmmm?
When I was little chartreuse and black was all the rage in decor. My parents had chartreuse lamps with black and gold fleck barrel shades and blonde furniture! Though I'm not a HUGE fan of it, it's color is indicative of Spring....and I like it in my garden in the form of a sweet potato vine, for example. In some of these photos I'm paring it with black, which can hold its own against chartreuse. Would you use this color in your garden and/or outdoor room? Photos: Chartreuse roses; Modern Chair; Polka Dot dish would pair well with the plaid dish and coffee mug in an outdoor room; Earrings - online; Chartreuse and black French-inspired fabric; Chartreuse Gate and....I tried to tell her this is what happens when you get in the pool with too much chlorine!
