Mum's the Word...

There's a popular saying when you want to keep a secret: *Mum's the Word.* It comes from the sound of 'mmmm' humming sound made with a closed mouth.  I adore mums. In fact for my wedding I had roses and spider chrysanthemums! Who else likes mums in decor, gardens or in fashion? Photos: Mum Dishes; Spider Mum; Spider Mum Wedding Cake; White chrysanthemum; Mum pillow; Mum hassock and paperweight.

Love 'em! The mum dishes are very modern and chic! What a beautiful shade of green. I would love to have the pillow and hassock. Oh, yes, I do love mums! Beautiful post (as always!).
Blessings!

Janean, when I lived in the northeast, where mums are annuals, I loved them! They were always the right bit of texture, the perfect punch of color.

Then I moved to the mid-Atlantic states where mums are aggressive perennial weeds that we can never clear from the garden. So now they are the enemy.

Hey Girl,
Nothing like a good mum for fall! They are the last bit of color we get to see in Illinois, before the cold comes. Hope you are having a good day.

There isn't a flower that I don't love, but mums are special to me, because my mummy always had mums growing in her flower beds....love the distinct fragrance they have.
Hugs,

I'm with Tennis Girl...the only mums I really like and get excited about are the vast collection of them at the stores or garden centers in the Fall. They are glorious. I have planted them in my garden (more on an impulse) and they fail to impress....

Oh, I adore mums and that green is my favorite! And that pillow with the big mum is darling!

I love mums, too! They do really well around here (Alabama), coming back year after year. I can't imagine fall without mums and the color they bring. I'm also a huge fan of marigolds. You can't beat a low-maintenance flower, IMHO. : ) Melissa

I love a huge pot of mums by the door in September - they last forever and give me that jolt of colour I need as the summer flowers fade.

I do like mums! They come in so many pretty colors! I love any flower that falls into the daisy family category. And of course to our Aussie, Brit and Canadian friends, Mum is Mother. :-) So what's not to like?

Mmmmmm...love Mums. Used some in my front yard when we did our spring planting. Very unusual wedding cake. Love the white pillow with the petals and button. Wondering where you found that image. I would like to make one of those.

Hi Janean,

Thanks for stopping to say, hello today! Erma Bombeck was a wonderful, talented person - I'm sure she declared that she had indeed used all of her talent when she got to the other side!! And, thank you so much for the nice complements.

I have to admit, I have been a peeker on your blog! What a beautiful and provoking blog you have! I too, love Mums, and mirrors and all the other pretties you post about! Talk about talent, you really do have a knack for putting things together beautifully!

Have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Barb

Oh, mums remind me of High School. At homecoming football games the boys would buy huge mum corsages with the school colors and ribbons for their dates.
