Bakers Rack
From the early 17th century, bakers racks have been used to cool hot items because the heat-conducting metal of the rack allows for heat to be quickly transferred from a hot pan to the shelf. I've had a bakers rack in my home half of my married life. The one at Old Sweetwater holds all of our every-day dishes, a couple of bowls and platter. Bakers Racks are great inside, on the porch or in the garden. Any other bakers rack people out there? Photos: On the porch; Decor idea from magazine - Little Bear Studio reprint; Table Top Bakers Rack; In the garden (cannot remember the blog site - so sorry); made larger using two corner bakers racks; wooden base bakers rack; bakers rack with drawers; smaller more modern version; Sams Bakers Rack (bread not included *sad face* - LOL)

Hi Janean,
I love bakers racks. I have several of them in the Inn. I had to have them, as the old homes donot have alot of cabinet space in the kitchen, so they were a necessity for me to hold all my dishes and platters. They are also pretty with the scroll work, etc. Hope you had a great weekend!

I love bakers racks, too! I'm in the 'search' for one for my front porch. Problem is, it's got to be cheap! Have a great week!
I love the one with the buns!
I love them and wish my kitchen had room for one!
We have two beautiful ones that we bought on a trip to North Carolina several years ago. DH uses one as a decorative bookcase in his home office. The other is currently stored in our "warehouse" basement at our rental home, waiting for its ultimate destination of the dining room at our new home. I used it at our former home for displaying small antiques and assorted crockeries.
I adore bakers racks!!! I am constantly rearranging things in my home. I am hoping for a outside room soon. I think I have the perfect rack that will work there. Thanks for the idea. Have a blessed week.

I've always admired bakers racks but have never had room for one.
I have a smaller one that I use for some of my many cookbooks, thanks for sharing the story of a bakers rack. Florence
I do indeed have a bakers rack. I have little counter space so I added one on the end of my old style kitchen for some additional room. Works great and I really like the look.
Thanks for showing that fresh baked bread! NOT!
WOW...Beautiful! Looks like a place my sitka could steal food...hahaha. Too much access for my house, but beautiful in others homes.
Hugs, andrea
Hey I love bakers racks....I need one in the kitchen.
Ah yes...those varied Baker's Racks..they have such a European air about them. Except the Industrial Steel Bakery cooling rack, which is what I have in my kitchen for additional storage. (pphhttt) Not so Frenchy, but it WORKS!! Loved all the variety that you found to post today.
Wow you have had yours all this time. You must really like it. Would love to see it! Hugs to you Janean! Enjoyed my visit.
I love'em, but don't have one. They can be so attractive for so many things. Especially if the bread is included. :)
Good afternoon Janean! I'm a bit late getting to my favorite blogs today...the Y and gardening and tending animals has slowed me up a bit. I LOVE bakers racks. I used to have one years ago but I can't even remember what happened to it! Since then I've moved so much and my houses have been smaller (other than the Victorian) so there hasn't been any room for one. When DH builds the screened in porch maybe I'll find one I can't live without and it will go out there. Thank you for reminding me how much I like them! Have a great Monday...best wishes...Maura
I love baker's racks! I have them everywhere! One on my balcony here at the condo, one in my kitchen in FL and one in the courtyard there. They are just great for displaying things!
Bonjour Janean,
I love the look of a Baker's rack. The mini one with the cups and is just right for the counter.
WIshing you a great week,
Mimi
I love baker's racks.....I need one and want one, but ..... I don't have room for one....awww....
You've found some amazing baker's racks..... I'd take any of them....
I want one for my patio and a small one for my front porch!
Blessings,
Lorilee
I like a beautiful and functional piece of furniture, and the baker's rack is both. Perhaps I need one.....
Nope, I don't have a rack (I wear a b-cup bra - har! har!) but if I did it would look like the one in the last pic, complete with... lovely buns! mmmm! :-D
Beautiful! I would love one of these on my porch.
I love the counter top bakers rack. Great for no more room than I have, but it also gave me an idea, because I have been wanting something for my screened in deck to display things on. Why not a bakers rack. thanks
I've always wanted a baker's rack, too, but have either haven't been able to afford one, or haven't been able to find one I like! I have the perfect place in my breakfast nook right now...maybe I'll start to search for one again!
I still need to furnish our back enclosed porch. Your post today has reminded me to be on the look out for a bakers rack... And gave me some more ideas how to display one too!!
I have that one shown in your third from the top photo, it's from Longaberger. It's in my bathroom though, holding my perfumes on the bottom shelf, and lotions in a basket along the top shelf.
We have a tall one in the kitchen breakfast nook area that holds some cookbooks and vintage cake and pie carriers.
So you could say, I do like bakers racks, lol!
Love all the pics!
Janean
How funny, tonight I posted my lucky surprise, my daughter gave me her bakers rack! It's all in pinks and pretty little faux pastries! Lori
I love bakers racks especially seeing used in porches and other rooms.
I have always loved these...so versetale and fun...come say hi :D
Everytime I see one I want one. I love them. We actually have that last rack in out closets in white and also out in the garage for our storage. I must buy one soon! I always wanted one in the yard against the house filled with plants.
I have several old ones I picked up at thrift stores/garage sales. I use them outside for displaying plants and vintage farm items. I love making pieces of the outside look like they come from the inside.
Definitely a fan of baker's racks. We had one in our kitchen for many years, but no longer have it. One year for Christmas we gave a baker's rack to each of our parents. They are useful for so many things. My mom, who is 95, moved into an assisted living apartment in February. The baker's rack that we had given her is one of the things she took along. She has it filled with family photos. Thanks for sharing all these photos.
