...violets are blue....

...Violets are blue...When I was around 12, my mom made me a *shift* dress from polished cotton printed in little deep colored violets. I liked the dark green stems and leaves next to the dark flowers. She made a self-ruffle that stood up around the neck and then down the dress front on the right side. How I loved that dress!
I also have grown African Violets with success. Today we'll focus on violets of blue. Does anyone like violets or the color? Photos: Violet Chintz tea set; Violet colors in living room; Violet dishes in a modern pattern; Violet embroidered tea towel; Violet Wallpaper cutouts; Violet Meringues - Country Living; Violet Botanical and Violet Infused French Mill Soap - Etsy; Violets *under glass* (my inspiration).

Janean,
My favorite memory of that color is going to my great Aunt Martha's in the spring. She had a hugh lilac tree and we would come home with bundles of lilacs for our vases. The house smelled wonderful!

I love violets and the color.
I've never had any luck at all growing them tho.
I have wild ones in my yard.
The dishes are so delicate looking.

Good Morning Janean! I love violets and the color...my Nana used to have violets in her garden. She also grew African Violets and she was very good at propagating them..she would cut off a leaf and put in dirt under a little glass and eventually it would begin to root and grow. Her house was always filled with flowers even in winter. I love the teapot and cups! Beautiful pictures as usual. Have a wonderful weekend. Maura

Hi Janean,
I love violets! Not to mention the color. When I walk into a garden shop,
I am always drawn to anything the color violet. I have thought of making a small garden with just that color. Oh, first flower I could ever grow as a newly married was African violets. Till babies came and wanted to eat the potting soil. :)

I love the little violets that show up each year at the edge of the flower beds. You're right - that dark green against the bright violet is just heart-melting.

I have violets on my kitchen wallpaper, but in a blue color, not purple. They are such a lovely, old fashioned flower. They are my Mom's favorite. And purple/violet/lilac is one of my favorite colors to wear.

My dear friend, violets are some of the most beautiful flowers in color. Every photo represented a favorite ~ at the top of my list is the stitching, so delicate, second of course, the desert.

I love you!

Janean, this is so lovely. Each photo is charming. I love the color violet and I've just recently planted woodland violets in a wild area of our lot. The little violet dishes are really special.

Hi Janean, You really come up with some amazing photos for your colors themes which I enjoy.... The effort you put into making each post concerning color is quite an Art form in it's self...

I adore violets and they are just now starting to pop up in the yard. They were also my grandma's favorite flower so they always remind me of her.

I love the third picture of the violet pattern dishes!

I don't mind the color violet but I don't use it much. I haven't had an African Violet in years. I think I will go out and get one!

Janean (Love this spelling!),

I've been perusing your blog and love it. I love various shades of violet. The room you show decorated with a bit of yellow is great! I like all these photos. The fleur-de-lis is wonderful! I've never grown African violets...I'm too scared to try, in fear I'd kill them in short time, but I remember my Great Grandma taking much pride in hers.
