Decorating Green Acres Style

I watch Green Acres and notice the decor. Am I the only one who does this? I notice movie sets too.  Anyway, on a Green Acres episode I saw beautiful Lisa (who adored a penthouse view) and Oliver (who didn't) had a leopard sofa!  Back then it probably was real leopard, but now we have the technology to print "leopard skin" that looks real.  Even in an all white decor, a little "leopard" can look classy.  I read about a French interior designer who always had a touch of leopard in her home. Here are a few examples of a bench, a dog bed, arm chair, ceramic COOKIE JARS and for the less adventurous, cleaning gloves!  I can see Lisa wearing them...

I have often paused a COMMERCIAL to study the room in the background!

I do it too, love the set more than the movie sometimes. Too funny because the picture of the cheetah handbag cookie jar I almost ordered!

OH yeah! do it all the time. I recently watched Hitchcock's Veritgo and paused it 30+ times to see the room sets. All full up of things my Mom had in our house in 59! Also love the clothes, hair and nails. loved em. Well, maybe not the pointy bras so much.

I do the same and can often date a series or movie by the set. I love classic movies and it's so easy to tell the ones made right after prohibition because everyone has a drink in their hand!
As far as leopard prints, I will leave them for The Flintstones, though the dog bed is adorable.

I remember watching the show. What a hoot. That was one lady that got taken out of the city, but he could never take the city out of her!!!! And yes I like to have a little "big cat" print here or there. I would send you a photo of one item in my closet right now. A leopard print miniature chaise lounge, of all things. I saw it when thrifting and invisioned it on top of a hutch one day with something displayed on it. It's not tiny. Probably 14 inches long and 12 inches at it's peak where the head rests. If I ever get the vision completed and out of the closet, I will have to post on it. Thanks for sharing the fun today on your post.

I LOVE sets! Tv shows and films both. I LOVE sets. I pay more attention to sets, than to story lines.

And I see that there are many of us, who love sets.

We need a blog, to gather in. :-)

"Set Lovers Unite" or something. :-)))

When I was little (in the 50's to 60's) my mother had a pair of fake leopard fur gloves. I coveted those gloves. They were so soft and pretty. I still covet those gloves. I bet she still has them stuck back in a drawer somewhere that hasn't seen the light of day in, um, 40 years or so!

I also watch movies to see the decor. I love old movies like Bringing Up Baby and Mr Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse, Christmas in Connecticut (love the beamed ceilings and the huge stone fireplace). Some newer ones have charming settings too, such as the sweet English cottage in Holiday and Meg Ryan's apartment in You've Got Mail. Isn't it wonderful to be able to pause a scene to get a really good look!

Love,

LOL! I guess I had never noticed-- I watched that a few times when I was a kid. I'll have to tell my sister she loves animal prints.

What a cute thought! I know I do when I watch movies! I love your blog so much, I'm going to put it in my favorites list! Happy blogging! ♥

Are you kidding me? I have to look at the background, check out what they are wearing, etc. etc. It's a wonder I can even follow a movie.

Question is: Do you have any animal print around? :)

Yes and Yes.
If the story is boring.. who cares as long as the furniture..decorating.. and landscape is beautiful!

I watched Marie Antoinette a few days ago.. Didn't care much for the story.. but the pastries.. landscape, dresses and decor were HAPPY EYE CANDY.

yes, i definitely notice decor in movies, commercials, books, etc. i love how the pig is dominant in front of a leopard sofa.

Karen, I DO have two pillows on the guest bed that are leopard! The whole bed set is chocolate velvet, so the leopard accent pillows blend well.

That show was always fun to watch. Wow, what a doggy bed!

That photo brings back so many memories of my Grandma Kay. She was well known for mixing leoprd prints and the color lavendar in both her home and wardrobe! And it was all often done in shiny satin. Talk about diva!

I used to watch Green Acres and enjoyed it, but I don't think I paid attention to the decor. Those cookie jars are adorable!
