They're Back Just In Time for Valentine Day!

Okay, so my dear brother and SIL go to their best friend's new apartment shortly after getting married (this is years and years ago).   They're chatting and in conversation my brother says, "...yeah, they had one of those ugly, gaudy red velvet headboards!" Hahahahah.....chuckle-chuckle....uh...ah....snicker....uh-hem....big grin....grin fades....
*silence, except for the crickets*

"You mean like the one we have?" the husband of the other couple asked. They got up and opened their bedroom door.  Yeah, there it stood in all its gaudy red velvet glory. The other couple just laughed about it, but it was one of those moments you never forget.

Well, chickies....those headboards are back. Urban Outfitters sells them -- same shape and tufted!  The one above was featured in a large city's newspaper. Has anyone else had "one of those moments?"  What does your headboard look like?

Too funny. Our headboard is a beautiful curvy wrough iron to match our beautiful footboard and wrough iron bed.
Have to say this though,a few years ago we went "home" to Albany, NY. My mom was in a nursing home and I could not leave her that day so we found a motel close by. Had been there forever. When I was in HS it was such a sweet motel. We check in and walk in the room and, you guessed it, the same headboard! PLUS mirrors on the ceiling!!! The rest of the room was basic motel, very clean etc, but those little "extras" sure set it apart!
Hugs,
Lynn

I have had a few of those moments for sure.
I think that red velvet head board in you post is kind of pretty.
Thanks for coming by the other day. Always nice to meet new bloggers.

Yes, I've applied foot to mouth many times! It's hard to keep up with trends and technology. I always "study" Best Buys ads on Sunday!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mine is wood - no red velvet anywhere in the house! LOL.

No headboard at all, just the wall. BUT....4 feet above the bed is an old barn wood shelf held up by 2 chunky corbels. LOTS of vintagey goodies displayed there along with a piece of my "art" and a couple photographs.

I know that feeling all too well and it is always in front of a crowd. I've never been given the pleasure of it just being one on one. What an embarrassment.

Our bed is red cherry sleigh bed.

That's like the time when I broke my wrist snowboarding. Later I was talking to a woman at a party who I don't know and she asks about my arm. I tell her, then she says it's a good story, and I laugh and say "Yep, at least I don't have to say I broke it tripping down the stairs." As soon as the words were out of my mouth I looked down and noticed her huge cast... I gasped and said, "Please tell you you didn't trip going down the stairs?" Luckily she was laughing very hard when she confirmed it.

Have a wonderful day, and yes, I am cheering the hardest for USA, and I will have tears running down my face as they accept their gold medals...

I was visiting my sister and my niece was with us as we were riding into town. We passed a truck that had a zebra stiped sofa on it and my niece started laughing at how tacky that was. I said, I have one just like it. My niece just sunk in her seat...of course I was just teasing her. We still laugh about it today. My headboard is a nondiscript wooden one...Chunky 80's style.

Boy I can't even tell you how many times I put my foot in my mouth. lol. Our headboard is wood and matches the other 4 pieces. It was my hubby's and he was so proud of it. Now talking about old at our little house in Arkansas it is a bookshelf headboard on a waterbed frame with a mattress in it. It was mine, but it works for there. Just a pain to put sheets on it.
Glad you stopped by, I do not know alot of people here in Willard so probably do not know your neice. It is a nice little town. Looking forward to reading over your blog when I have some time. Like what I saw.
until next time... nel

Thanks for visiting my blog. I personally think your brother was right in his assessment of the headboard. Have I had one of those moments? Too many. Once I said I didn't like the name "Howard." My roommate said, "My dad's name is Howard." Oops! As I said, I've had my share of goofs like that. Blessings.

I've experienced plenty of those what-was-I-thinking-when-I-said-that moments too.

And speaking of headboards, mine is made of wood. Kinda rustic.

But I've added some animal print fabric and accents here and there.

Just to shake things up a little bit.

Thanks for stopping by my place. Hope to see you again.

Sweet dreams.

Hi! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! I popped on over and LOVE your blog. It's a feast for the eyes. (And please, come back to mine, I won't always talk so gross. :))

That is a painful, hilarious story. I'd enjoy one of those lurvely red velvet headboards, but we have a pretty cream iron one that I still admire for now.

Unfortunately I've had one of those moments more than once! Guess it just makes me very forgiving toward others when they do it.

My bed doesn't have a headboard. I just have a big picture hanging.
Your picture reminds me of the old movie glamor headboards.

I couldn't come up with THE perfect headboard so I used two large, pictures.
Works for me!
Though... a red velvet, tufted headboard would be fun.

My headboard is wood (sorta "spokes!") prettier than it sounds!

What a moment -- I am sure I've done the put my foot in mouth moments. I like the color of a red that on red barns. But for a headborad I don't think so -- I love wood all different types and styles. I have a barn red color on a cabinet that was built in the style design of country. My post tomorrow -- there are a few photos there. Look in the back ground of the first three photos you can see this red cabinet. Have a happy day tomorrow with lots of family love and your sweetheart on this 2010 Valentine's Day.

First, I want that cookie!

Second, our mattresses are on the floor as we haven't come around to buying a bed yet, LOL!

I doubt we'll be going for velvet headboards anytime soon though... ;-)

OOPS! It happens to everyone sometime. My headboard is a sleigh bed, curved, dark, and just perfect for propping up a pillow with a good read. A little love for you on my blog today if you get a chance to stop by.
Best,
Stephanie
