Blue and White Decor

On vacation one year I found a fabulous shop in Apalachicola, Florida. I stayed in there for hours because there were thousands of "treasures," and the scent of the store was delightful.  Today Old Sweetwater is going to feature soft blue and white of Florida inspired by the coastal water.  Are there any other blue and white lovers?

Janean, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wandered on over here led by your comment and stayed for hours!

I went through a blue phase. Your blue pics are lovely especially that one of the room.

Love your blog! I'll be back (which makes me sound like a stalker- which I'm not. or Arnold Schwarzenegger- which I'm not )

I LOVE blue and white. At one point our bedroom, our kitchen and our bathroom were all done in blue and white! :) My kitchen will ALWAYS be blue and white as long as I can help it! While the bathroom still has some blue in it, I've redone it in the beach/lighthouse decor. The lighthouse pictures are actual photos we've taken while spending time on the coast in Maine and I framed them. Any shells are ones we've collected...along with stones. The color scheme is light blue (for the sky and water) and tan (for the sand). It is still a work in progress. Our bedroom is now going primitive.

I loved that blue and white piece in the second picture today!

Oh my Oh my Oh my. You got me immediately at "Blue and White."
It's my favorite. I DO love that combination. I love those blue hydrangeas. My absolute favorite to have in the house and yard. I love blue and white Toile. It's a very peaceful combo. Thinking of blue skies, white clouds, crystal blue waters, white sands, blue flowers, white vases, whipped cream piled on blueberries. enjoyed all the photos. Loved the visit. Thanks for a fun and inspiring blog!

Oh yes! I love blue and white! In fact, our every day dishes are a blue and white toile pattern. When we fist moved here I wanted a real English Cottage feel kitchen and breakfast room, and these dishes fit that perfectly. But it (the room) never felt right, and one day I found my red farmhouse table and chairs at the antique market for $120 and my kitchen became a real farmhouse kitchen. I had found the perfect inspiration. The white beadboard, chambray blue walls, bright blue bench (from a mill in NC) with a folded quilt for padding, the mustard yellow cabinet that had belonged to my grandmother all fit together just right. And the blue and white dishes looked just as a home in the farmhouse as they had in the English cottage.

I am just getting around to reading the comments to my give-away, so I just saw where you asked about putting it on your side bar...I just click on a photo of the giveaway - save image - go into layout -add a gadget-pictures- browse and get the photo from wherever you saved it and then go back and cut and paste my blog address in the htlp line back at the add a gadget box.
I am going to add a second chance for you since I didn't get back in a timely manner.

Such a fabulous calm look. It always makes me think of summer with white curtains billowing in the summer breeze.

I do like blue and white together. Its crisp, clean, and classy! Like you, Janean, I have several sets of dishes and one of those sets is blue and white. I like to set it out with soft yellow place matts and napkins, and yellow flowers. In the spring it just feels fresh!!!

How beautiful ~ the blue and white tapestry :) Did the store have the fragrance of the ocean? I can almost hear waves now :) One year we brought home two small oil paintings of a lighthouse on a sandy beach. I cannot wait until we return for a visit...

Love it! Years ago I used so much blue that I actually got tired of it. In the last couple of years, though, I started loving it again, and have it in different shades or hues throughout my house as well. Think it will always be around!!!!

I do not decorate with blue and white but I do have a shelf of pieces in my dining room. My sister was in Thailand for 21 years and most of the pieces are ones that she gave to me or that I picked up while I was visiting her. I love every single piece because of the memories behind them.

Love the blue and white! Especially in dishes. I have a treasured set of Blue Willow dishes my mother in law gave me. They go wonderfully with the English Cottage theme you discussed the other day. I read that any blue and white dishes, no matter the pattern can be put together. You know, like some are the English, some more oriental, some old American... but if it's the "blue and whites" it can be mixed.

I had a blast painting those chairs the Robin's egg blue, they look wonderful in the shop. I have nothing of blue in my home, but I love it...why is that??? Maybe it's my pink house that sets me in a different direction...I never planned on a pink house either...who knew!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

I am a painter at heart and I love color. These colors work well together you are see that with the beautiful photos you show here. You can be bold or soft which make it all the better pleasing to the eye for many and that's what I love about these colors.

Hi Janean - Target currently has a blue and white home collection; sort of a delft. I bought the bedspread, but the framed prints to go above the bed are too matchy-matchy for me. Good to see the comments about yellow and red as accent colors - I'm thinking some prints of red flowers.

Love, love, love blue and white. I have some gorgeous everyday white dishes with a simple blue french impressionist flowers around the edges. I've had these for 20 years and I still love them. Thanks for your lovely blog.
