Let It Snow!

"Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow!" The year before I got married, it snowed on Christmas morning. I remember being too excited to stay asleep, so I got up and looked outside.  The street lights illuminated huge snowflakes lazily drifting down from heaven.  I quickly tip-toed into my little brother's room about 5 o'clock in the morning to find that he was awake too.  I snuggled under his covers while we made our plans which consisted of turning on tree lights, Christmas music, making coffee and getting large trash bags out for discarded wrapping paper and boxes.  Later when we woke our parents up, we opened the family room drapes with a flourish to present the glistening wonderland outside our window.  What a fantastic "last Christmas at home!"  Do you have a Christmas snow memory?   These two ornaments, once again, were from Cracker Barrel last year!

Janean,

That is a lovely memory, I always remember as kids when it snowed there was a big hill behind our house and we filled old plastic farm bags with hay and slided down the snowy hill on them :)The little things what amuse kids.

All things nice...

That is a sweet story, especially since it has such a meaningful day with it. Love you ornaments too, Cracker Barrel has wondeful items in their store for decorating, I've spent a bunch of money there doing just that!

I live in GA, so it rarely snows here, and when it does it's usually after the holidays. We've had a flake or two on Christmas morning, but never a really good snow!

It doesn't snow here too often, but usually at least once or twice a year. Soooooo, any TIME it snows it is just a wonderfully fun day!

You're so lucky to have Christmases that you wake up and see snow. I have yet to see it but maybe one day :)

Hi Janean,

Thank you for visiting my blog; it's so nice to meet you.

I think my favorite Christmas *snow* story is from 2001. Our family had moved from Florida to Michigan. On December 18th we got socked with a massive snowstorm which dumped nearly 3 feet of snow on us. We were giddy! The high temp on Christmas day was seven degrees below zero. We lit a fire, opened presents, and marveled at the magic outside.

We're back in Florida now, WISHING it would snow...

Beautiful memories shared that remind me of Christmases at home.♥

I too love when it snows on Christmas, though it rarely seems to do that much anymore here in east-central Illinois, so I'm getting used to cold, green Christmases. Seems like most, if not all, of our snow manages to come in January and February, long past the holidays.

I grew up with three sisters (no brothers) but we would wake each other up super early on Christmas morning (some years as early as 4:00 a.m.) and we'd be downstairs playing with the toys that Santa brought and waking up our parents, who had likely just gotten to bed! :)

Great memories.

Aww...that's a sweet memory! As a little girl growing up in northern Alabama, we often had white Christmases and it was just the cherry on top! Thanks for popping in to see me,
Be a sweetie,

Hi Janean, thanks for your visit and Merry Christmas. That was a lovely Christmas story. I am so old I have many Christmas stories. When I was expecting my 6th child, at Christmas near the end of my pregnancy, she was born Jan 8th, I could hardly move around. My handsome hubby and 5 other children were waiting on me hand and foot. He and all the other children had to do the shopping and prep for Christmas. We lived on a farm way out in the country and it snowed a bushel that Christmas. The pipes all froze and dear hubby spent hours under the house thawing and rethawing them out. We will never forget that one. Come again dear one.

Janean, thank you for taking the time to visit me at Southern Lagniappe, and for your nice comment about my pictures of our home.

I loved your story about your "last Christmas at home." It sounds like it was absolutely perfect ... complete with new-fallen snow. What a sweet and memorable Christmas for your family.

I hope this one is as perfect.

Sincerely,

Janie

I love Cracker Barrel for Christmas ornaments. Some of my very fav's came from Cracker Barrel, also. My favorite Christmas memories are of Christmas Eve, gathering at grandma's house and playing with all the cousins. Then going and playing with all the other cousins the next day at the other grandma's house. Now all our kids act out the nativity story, and even at 16, 14, 12, and 9, my kids still like putting it on. (They will never admit it, but they still do!) Take care and have a wonderful Christmas!

Cute ornaments. I remember when I was young and got up in the middle of the night, it was winter. I went to the window and I saw the star just like the Wise Men did.
I will never forget it.
