Kitsch-y

Kitsch (kit-ch) is a German word.... denoting anything that's considered as inferior, tasteless or mass-produced, such as garden gnomes, plastic flowers or yard flamingos.
Ya know, I  really like the word, "kitschy" and I use it for  items popular when I was a kid, vintage items, like this snazzy pair of 1950's eyeglasses pictured at the bottom.
Who knows, maybe one of these kitschy items will be under the tree come Christmas morning? Eggnog would stay cold in those aluminum glasses and wouldn't they look so cool on a table with vintage glass tree ornaments? They're available at Amazon.  What's your FAV vintage or kitschy item?

I'm crazy about anything Kitchy! I especially love the old patterns for crochet such as the 50's poodle cover for liquor gift bottles! Remember those? Enjoyed this post very much! Thanks for sharing and have a fabulous day! Coralie

Oh honey - - - I HAVE those aluminum glasses!!! Only now I use them in my science lab when we want to calculate Dew Point.

They also came in soap boxes back in the 50's.

NOTHING is as cold as something in one of THOSE glasses!!!

Also - - - kitchy is now really kool.

We all have our own 'poison'
Aluminum glasses...never liked them..even back then
Those glasses...Barbie wore those
me..never
Now, my poison is stripped glasses from the 40's and old children's books
...so yes, we all I guess have 'kitch" around..just different

There's a tiny china couple sitting on the shelf inside the wall clock. They scream '1940's' but I love them because they were put there in 1948, the year of my Great Dane's birth and his grandparents' 25 anniversary.
I loved your chair post, yesterday. I'll have to blog about my chairs too, one day.

our family didn't own the aluminum glasses, but my aunt always had them because of her four rowdy children! the glasses always "froze our fingers off" when we drank cold milk or Kool-Aid from them, but now i think they look so Christmas-y...LOL!

I love those glasses. The drinking ones! They do bring back memories of being so cold to hold with your hand.

I remember having those drinking glasses when my sons were little.
My kitschy is Gnomes. I collect a new one every spring to go in the flower garden.
Have a great weekend.

We didn't have these, but my neighbor did, and I can remember sitting out in their backyard drinking Koolaid from them and thinking they were so pretty.
Blessings,
Marcia

I am absolutely in love with the aluminum drinkware set!
Gosh I have so many vintage and kitschy favorites that it's really hard to choose! I think it's got to be muumuus though.

I've always loved aluminumware. We didn't have them, but my friends did, and yes, they were sometimes too cold to handle, but in the hot Panamanian weather, it was great. I've managed to find two sugar bowls, one blue, one red, a tiny blue ice bucket (only 4 cubes) with matching tongs, and keep my eyes open for more! I stay away from ebay, for my wallet's sake, and just go to flea markets. But living here in Spain makes it really hard to find some of the stuff I grew up with!

Oh, and to answer your question, I love my Saucy Walker dolls, an aluminum tricycle that everyone bumps into in the hallway (lol) and so many other treasures I've found through the years.
