A Valentine Story with a Twist

He was truly in love with her, but he needed to show her in a tangible way. He was not a *man of means* so what could he offer her as a token of his love? He needed to REALLY impress her. The idea came to him and... It. Was. Brilliant...literally. The next day he felt the diamond ring. The yellow gold was so smooth....
"Hello. Is this Tony's mother?" the teacher asked.
"Yes it is."
"I thought I'd better call you. Your son brought a diamond ring to class today..." she began.
"A what?"
"Yes. He had it in his desk. He planned to give it to his little girlfriend," the teacher continued, "It looks like the engagement ring to a wedding set. It's a little extravagant for a first-grader."
"A diamond ring....a DIAMOND ring...." Mom shook her head trying to comprehend it.
That night you better believe my brother was taught a lesson about love, giving and taking...especially his mom's first wedding set. Anyone else love diamonds or diamond-inspired decor? Diamond tufted headboard; Diamond-cut crystal votive; Diamond wallpaper; Diamond tufted footstool; Diamond pattern marble floor; Diamond tufted leather chair; Diamond patterned iron fence.

Oh my, my! What a romantic brother you have! Is he still as romantic today? My hubby has his moments, and has done some amazing things that - just the thought of them - blew me away.

And I love diamond patterns! I especially love that ottoman - gorgeous!!!

Great post- My oldest son took my hubby's first wedding ring to school too -gave it to a girl...we didn't know it until she got mad at him and threw it in our bushes out front-accompanied by much screaming!-lol

Sweet story!
I like diamond-painted shutters in faded colours.
...and I like a very special 39 year old diamond engagement ring bought for me by my one-time cadet with all his savings. It's still my favorite piece.

Yep! Anything "diamond" works for me on Valentines Day or any day.LOL
Cute story. Funny thing, my granddaughter came home from school with a similar story. One of her little 5th grade friends was offered a diamond ring(turns out belonged to his Mom). She of course said no and told her Mom who in turn called the teacher.
Really like that rod iron fence design.

Hi Janean,

What a very sweet story!
Reminds me of the time our daughter about 10, went off to school wearing her Dads vintage gold Rolex.
Happy Valentines Day, hope it is sprinkled with much love.

Being a first grade teacher, I love this story! I could just see it! Your brother sounds like he was real sweet on girls. Did he continue that trend? lol
Love all your diamond inspired decor. What's there not to love about diamond anything?
Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

That is a darling story. His heart was in the right place. He probably did not realize the value of the ring or the sentiment behind. I am sure he has a better concept of diamonds now.
