One cold January evening we went out with another couple to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Afterward, we agreed to "walk dinner off" by strolling around the area. About half-way through the exercise we started smelling cinnamon. Understand that we felt stuffed full of Chinese food, but cinnamon.... Finally we came upon the bakery. It was like a story book! We stepped inside viewed the most awesome cinnamon rolls. Yes, we bought them "to go" and feasted on them later. Do you have a favorite bakery? Both of our favorites are now gone, (oh how we enjoyed Sophie's Bakery). This image is of Vesuvio Bakery in N.Y., but it kind of had the same mom and pop feel as our cinnamon roll bakery!

OOOOOH - those cinnamon rolls look absolutely delish!!!
I think too many of the great old bakeries we used to have are gone ... there is one fantastic one for cakes nearby, and another that makes the most divine almond croissants! yummm ... if you're ever in New York, we'll take a tour!
It's amazing what the smell of baked goods can do to us :-)...My favorite place to visit when I'm in their area is Great Harvest Bread Company. They great you with a thick slice of bread of your choice. Butter and jam on the side!
Awesome looking cinnamon rolls. I used to bake my own.
Here at the lake we do have a new bakery, I hear they only have bread. Haven't visited yet. It is owned and run by a religious group call "The twelve tribes" if you saw them on the streets you would think 60's hippies. Might check it out someday.
I so LIKE this PHOTO! In Houston, we were blocks away from shops similar this! NICE!
Ohhhhhh my! Such temptation!
When I was working in the ATL, I frequented a deli/bakery in Toco Hills called Bagel Palace. Their fresh made daily bagels were to die for, as were the pastries like Cream Puffs and the cakes - oh my gosh!!! I especially loved going there for the Jewish holidays and getting Mandel Bread, it was yummy. And no, I'm not Jewish.
Wow I can smell them thru the computer,,,no I dont have a favorite..but when I lived in Germany oh my the bakeries there,,I could walk to one and I did almost everyday...thanks for sharing..
STOP! U are making me drool! :-P
I don't have a favorite bakery. Well, there is one downtown but I rarely get there- which is a good thing because my diet and French pastries are not compatible. Sigh. I wish I could just live on a diet OF French pastries!
This bakery is picture perfect! How lucky you are to have this old town feel left in your town! I'm jealous! Happy Friday :) xoxo
Well, cinnamon increases metabolism -- who cares if the recommended dose is a teaspoon daily. Besides, who can resist cinnamon buns with a cup of fresh brewed coffee?
I miss the wonderful bakeries in North Jersey and Manhattan. None down here. My favorite? Ferrara's Italian Bakery in Little Italy.
Oh!! I thought you were going to say you made those delicious looking Cinnamon Rolls. My sweetie loves Cinnamon Rolls and it's one thing I have never tried to make. We do have a local bakery that I go to for special times. I can just smell the Cinnamon.
Sounds like me ~ decide to 'walk off' a big meal, then stop in and pick up cinnamon rolls on said walk :) All the good, old bakeries around here are gone. We do have a decent one left in our only non-walmart grocery remaining here in town. Which reminds me, I need to shop there more often! -Tammy
That bakery looks so welcoming. I wish there was one around here! Unfortunately there isn't a bakery close to us unless you want to count Walmart or one of the grocery stores. So our favorite bakery is my kitchen.
I loved growing up in the Chicago area with real down to earth bakery's in every town.
I love the smell of cinnamon...and it is one of those smells that draws you to it, especially baking!
That image of the cinnamon rolls gave me a mild heart attack, induced by too much drooling and lots of gluttony.
YUM!
you know, i think that i could actually be inspired to go out and take a walk.....if i knew i could follow my nose and end up at a bakery like this (just as they were pulling the cinnamon rolls out of the oven....!!).
yeeeehaw!! :))
Nothing better than a good bakery -- except for an adorable, good bakery!
You are a bad, bad girl for posting that picture of gooey goodness in January!
oh yum, I love cinnamon rolls! I need to learn to make them. My step-mom makes delicious cinnamon rolls. We have a bakery called Cimarron Express. They make THE best glazed sugar cookies. They are EVEN better than chocolate!
Blessings,
Lorilee
Home town feel from your photo shows -- is always a welcome temptaion of the heart of those yummy bakeries..
Ooooooh, I love cinnamon rolls. Want to bake me some? The smell is so enticing!
