I associate Christmas with Winter because of where I spent them as a child. As much as I liked Georgia, for 18 years Christmas never seemed like Christmas to us. My honey and I actually missed the cold and the look of winter. Beside autumn, Winter is my favorite season. It's clean feeling and it seems "right" to me.
I bought this 46-inch metal "snowflake" at Old Time Pottery nearly five years ago for less than $20.00. I painted it white, allowing some of the metal patina to show through. It reminds me of Winter and, consequently, Christmas. That's why it's in my bedroom. It's one of the first and last things I see each day. What reminds you of Christmas beside the obvious decorations?

I remember one night as a child, my aunt had brought me home from a shopping trip just before Christmas, and as we got out of her car we noticed the stars. It was a C*O*L*D night, but the sky was dark and clear and the stars were really out that night. What seemed like millions of them. As we stood there looking up at the sky, there was a shooting star that shot across the sky. Ever since then, cold, clear, starry nights make me think Christmas.
What a beautiful "snowflake". Baking reminds me of winter because I just don't do it in the warmer months.
Hugs,
Dawn
Thank you for commenting on my blog.
I love your blog, want to read the whole thing.
I see you are in Missouri also. No Warsaw has not had any snow yet. We are expecting some tomorrow. We will probably get it because I have a Dr. appt in Sedalia.
Are you familiar with Warsaw.
We have a rug hooking and quilt fabric store. Lots of wool and good fabric.
I should have told you the name of the store.

I love the snowflake too. Great reminder of winter.
Love the snowflake. We grew up in Chicago so it was a big adjustment living in California. But now when it gets cold (50's) I feel like I'm freezing!
Merry Christmas!
What a neat metal snowflake.
This is a glorious picture of the snow with gate. Awesome.
Hope all is going well in your cottage,
d
I like the way you think. I love the beautiful gate drenched in snow. However, I am not a winter person. I do enjoy snow every once in a while. The bottom three post are inspirational as well.

Beautiful snowflake! I love it! Anytime I hear a song by Vince Guaraldi, it makes me think of Christmas.
Oh I love that snowflake! I'm with you, autumn & then winter as my 2 favorite seasons.
I love your metal snowflake and the winter photos is beautiful! Thank you for your kind comments on my blog.

I love the smell of Christmas; a real tree, Russian tea, my favorite soy candle scent that my neighbor makes called Cinnavanilla...love your metal snowflake!
I love your snowflake. Wow 48", that's a big one. I'm sure it looks so pretty in your bedroom. I tend to paint everything metal white. I have a pretty metal piece in my dining room that I bought black, but it is so much prettier white.
Very pretty! I associate smells with Christmas. The smell of Hot Mulled Cider, Gingerbread and pine are a few of my favorites.
I love your very pretty snowflake.
The fragrance of pine, cinnamon, organge and ginger always remind me of Christmas.
I must pop by more often!

I live in Mi. and cannot imagine a Christmas without snow... after all these years with it. Nice that you put things in your home to remind you of snow. Blessings!

I am a North Dakota girl living in Florida and I miss the snow...Been in FL for 15 years and each year I miss it more. Maybe because I have forgotten that behind the beauty of snow there is the ice, the slush, the mess... It would all be worth it for just one snow filled afternoon!
Best wishes,
Tammy
I can relate! I have vacationed in warmer climates during the Christmas season, and it didn't feel like it could possibly be Christmas because of no snow and the lack of evergreen boughs on everything. Love your snowflake!
