Aqua Reminds Me Of.....

Isn't this butcher's block FAB? Everyone seem to like them; especially antiques.  i was drawn to this butcher's block because of its aqua color.
When i was six, my parents and i lived in an old, old rectory (parsonage) where my father was the caretaker for a church. Just three rooms for three short months, but i adored that place - smitten to pieces.
One reason was that the kitchen and tiny stairway was painted a warm aqua.  It was my first meeting with aqua and it truly agreed with me.  I felt sooo happy surrounded by this color.  Funny thing.  I've never had it in my home since.  Huh.  Maybe in 2010 i'll try something in aqua? At least an apron or SOMEthing!!   What color makes you happy?
The first Etsy apron below has a bright aqua-turquoise band that would look sweet in behind this butcher's block!  The second is a "clothespin" apron - click on photo to link.

Living here on Lake Erie, we have both our bathrooms in aqua and white. Not only does it continue with a water theme, but just everything looks good with it. (Except maybe a fifty something person....) And! It's very restful!

OOOoooo!! The table! Want it. Have 0 place for it but want it! Bring it to my house and help me find a spot. And since you're coming, bring me those aprons! Either one. Both. More. All.

I love the color also! I recently painted my stairway a muted aqua/turquoise and I love it! A soft, buttery yellow on walls also makes me happy! And then a splash of red here and there, especially in a dull, paneled room. Yeah, that too!

I must admit that aqua is growing on me. Yellow has always been my favorite color. I do have a guest room with yellow furniture. I love the celery greens too. We haven't painted in this house, it will be fun to do color!

Janean,

Oh how nice is that and the aqua colour is very unusual for a butcher's block, I got a thing for baby blue- you may have noticed from some of my blog posts. I also love baby pink :) Girly girl colours! That house you lived in the old Rectory sounds beautiful- with lots of history and character. Our guest bedroom has one wall in aqua and the rest in a country cottage cream looks quite nice if I must say myself :)

All things nice...

Okay...so maybe I'm partial since Aqua is my FAVORITE color next to white which everyone tells me is not a color(whatever)
But this piece is too cool!
I could definitely find a place in my kitchen for such a GEM.
By the way...you really should find a place in your home for Aqua...there is something very inviting, comfortable and yet even elegant about the color.

I have never had a home without it being a predominant color and have always been happy with how it looks.
Have a Wonderful New years...donna

Hi, Janean,
I love aqua, too, and that old butcher's block is beautiful!! Love those cute aprons, too. I always have a hard time choosing a certain color as my favorite because all colors appeal to me in different ways. Robin's egg blue has always been a favorite. It is a serene peaceful color to me. I am wishing you and your family the happiest of New Years in 2010. Thank you for stopping by for a visit at Bunny Cottage. It always brightens my day when you do! Vicki

Favorite color is lavender/shades of purple. In tea cups, violets, pansies and such. I have journals, coffee mugs, accessories in this color. Just a touch makes me so happy. As for my home, funny you mention aqua. I have always love that color in clothes. Right now I am contemplating painting my breakfast nook and kitchen in something such as vanilla color walls with white molding, doors etc and with my shades of white furniture and touches of aqua and pink. I saw beautiful curtains for the kitchen windows in Country Curtains in an aqua floral pattern and ever since that color keeps nagging at my heart! Maye there is something in the air, is aqua the color for 2010? I would love to hear more about living in the rectory. What details were you smitten with? Sounds enchanting.
Happy New Year Janean.

Look at all these comments...who knew aqua was such a hot topic? I love it and have considered painting the walls in my shop aqua to contrast with all the natural wood trim and ceiling. I have already used it to accent my studio upstairs over the shop and have never changed it in over 16 years.

Hope you have a Happy New Year!
