New Start. New Beginnings...

* New start. New beginnings. Fresh. Clean slate.* These are the words that I use to describe each new year's beginning.
  • The New Year helps me stop obsessing...er wipe the slate clean on the many times I acted like a *complete monkey* last year when I was trying for *suave.*
  • The New Year offers me to start the year not making unrealistic promises to myself ...like exercise.
  • In January the air even smells clean to me, so I want to breathe deeper and really RELAX (always a challenge).
  • The New Year calls out for me to try something NEW...like maybe ride an ostrich? Or not.
  • The New Year may give me opportunities to make new friends! Or not.
  • The New Year lets me be depressed, upset, stressed accepting about a few more wrinkles lines and *old lady* hands of experience.
  • It's time to appreciate one more year and LIVE a little! Anybody jumping on my scooter with me?
So what words describe the beginning of a new year to you?

  1. For me the New Year always brings renewed hope . Jus think a whole year - and nothing has been done in it yet- that's exciting!

I could go anywhere , do anything, be whoever I want.

The new year is a great time to start over.

Happy new Year to you and yours Janean. I wish all good things for you for 2011.

  6. Janean,

Happy New Year....2011. Wow I am sitting here thinking back to when it was 2000, and the new millinium and all the fears and worries about what would happen to our national and international systems, and what happened????? nothing, another year came in and people celebrated and resolutions were made. I am thankful for the new year and all the opportunities, promises and freshness (or clean slate.. did you say?!) that are ours simply because the calendar is starting over. Yay for new beginnings and second chances...or third...or???
Thanking GOD for His grace to help us through all that we will face. :-) So glad to know you as a bloggy sister... HUGS!!!

  9. Oh Janean, I love, love, love all your pictures. They are tooo funny! Mine didn't start off too good but it's going to get better! I took a tumble going up some stairs last just after midnight and got a deep cut on my hand from the dish I was carrying. But it already looks better this morn, so I know things are going to look brighter in the future! Happy New Year!

  11. I adore what you've written - purely honest and enjoyable to read. :)

I'm afraid that I'm the wrong person to ask about new years though... just read my latest blog and you'll see why. I tend to view time in blocks - and I'm seeing towards this new decade of life and not liking all that I see.

Still.... Happy New Year greetings to you.
    Love,
    Linda

  15. That was me, at times last year, strapped to the perpetual motion machine!
I'll join you, Janean, but not if you're getting a tattoo. I work with so many men who are tattooed head to foot, that I shudder when I see a bit of ink. If (and it's a big 'if') I ever got one, it would be on the back of my hand and it would say 'Stop and smell the flowers' - right where I could see it every day!

  17. Hi Janean,
I just love these pictures and feel like I could be placed in each one of them. No, I don't think I'll be getting a tattoo this year.
I'm going to be writing down (on the computer) goals for this year, but no resolutions. I think by writing it down, it keeps me more on track.
I know I'll be having fun repurposing all those jewels I received for Christmas...now that's a goal I know I'll be able to keep.
    Happy New Year.

  22. Janean,

Don'cha know it? I did all those things last year.Remember you had that giveaway so I'm now sporting an Old Sweet Water Cottage tramp stamp? And lemme tell ya, riding an ostrich is way over raided. I much preferred the pig. Anyway, consider me as having jumped on your scooter, looking forward to another year of life and laughter!
    Happy New Year My Friend!

  25. Great pictures, Janean. I guess I am claiming "Fresh Start" as my new years phrase, although I can identify with all you mentioned. Just trying not to set my self up for failure and taking one day at a time.
Looking forward to visiting you more often now that we are fairly settled in our new home.
    Happy New Year
