Christmas Breakfast

Most Christmas morns we make breakfast before we open gifts. It's different each year - just whatever our taste buds dictate. Sometimes toast and coffee and other times, it's a large breakfast. This year I was leaning toward *gourmet.*  Hot biscuits with Vermont butter and Pineapple Vanilla Preserves, smoked thick-sliced bacon and ham from Dean and Delucas. A spinach-mushroom quiche accompanied with fresh squeeze orange juice and Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.
Oh....sorry, let me answer the phone. "Hello? What??? The *HOT* sign is on at Krispy Kreme? Are you sure? When did it come on? Just NOW? I'm there!"  Hey, the sign is red and green, which just screams *Christmas* to us!  LOL!!  Did you have breakfast on Christmas morning or not?

  1. I'd be sold on the Krispy Kremes too since you cant get them here and I LOVE them!

But bacon and all that other stuff sounds pretty good too - so long as someone else is cooking!

I had ham, toast and eggs and it was delicious.

Hope your Christmas was fabulous my friend.

  5. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!
    Sounds and looks delicious Janean!
My husband cooks breakfast Christmas morning...its usually my home-made butter-pecan rolls that I baked on Christmas Eve, and scrambled eggs, fried, ham, bacon and brown-sugar sausage and home-made cut up fried potatoes.
I just had one of the rolls with my coffee as Im typing lol
Love to you this "day after Christmas". I'm off to work for 9:00 a.m. this morning.
    Happy Holidays hun!

    With all my heart...Deborah xoxo

  8. Janean, I would have chosen the KK's, too!!! Breakfast is a . . . ummmm, well, it's just weird around here! Hubby gets up really early, and breakfast to him is a cup of coffee and a 'breakfast bar' or something (ANYTHING) sweet! Breakfast to me is a big country breakfast! So, Mama and I, while we wanted biscuits and gravy, had grits and sausage. Hank the turkey was in the oven, so biscuits were out of the question! Merry Christmas, Janean and family!!! Becky G. in GA

  20. We too have breakfast first, but not because our grandsons want to, ha! My son told my grandson, "You have to have breakfast so you'll have plenty of muscles to open those presents." He said, "I've already got muscles, so can I open them?" Oh for the enthusiasm of children! Hope your Christmas was wonderful! You made mine special!

  23. Oh, Janean, your Christmas breakfast looks mighty tasty... hot donuts! Yea!

We have breakfast caserole every Christmas morning... the rest of the menu may change, but that stays the same. We had Paula Dean's Gorilla Bread this year, which was a big hit! You can't go wrong in this house with butter, sugar and nuts! LOL! Hope you have a Happy New Year!

  26. You made me so hungry. It all sounds so good to me.
Yes, I had breakfast for the family and four guests, but kept it really simple since it was an "eat and run" morning. Just bagels, cream cheese, fruit, and banana bread. We even had leftovers.

  28. We had a fabulous pre-gift breakfast. The highlights were my son's cheesy scrambled eggs and my husband's crumbly coffee cake.

    Have a Happy New Year!

  29. Mmmmmm - none of those doughnuts here, but I remember having them, once, on a trip south. They were sinfully delicious!
Our Christmas breakfast is nearly non-existent. On Christmas Eve I set out a pan of Monkey Bread to rise by the fire (one year the dog ate the raw dough!...now we close him in our bedroom!) and in the morning I pop them in the oven first thing so that we can all enjoy hot Cinnamon buns and coffee and milk.

  30. Hi Janean,
I just found your blog and so glad I did. I love it! Hot Krispy Kremes are one of my favorite things! I plan to take my daughter to the Nutcracker Ballet next year!

  31. Please, may I have some more??? It could be biscuts, or donuts, bring on the meat or just toast (with a stick of butter)... :D Breakfast on Christmas mornings are a favorite in our household... It seems to indicate rest and conversation which Rich & I find enjoyable. From gourmet to down-home Texas style (those big holes in backyards filled with briskets) or Georgian taste buds (grits & gravy), it is sure to be a meal with plenty to talk about...
    Love you girlfriend!
