Christmas on the Plaza

We're very blessed to have a magnificent place to go...especially during Christmas. It's the Country Club Plaza (pictured below). It really is like the song, *City sidewalks busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style. In the air there's a feeling of Christmas. Children laughing; people passing; meeting smile after smile...* After walking in the brisk air, it's time to relax with a mug of hot cocoa and watch the other shoppers and horse-drawn carriages.  Is there a special place YOU enjoy going during the holidays?

  3. Janean,
I love the song “Silver Bells”, especially when Bob Hope would sing it on his Christmas show with a pretty guest star or his wife, Delores. This place looks magical. Pass me the cocoa!
    Merry Christmas, dear friend.

  12. I love the Plaza. I saw it one year back in about 1985 from the air. Very impressive. We used to go there every year. Haven't been there in 20 years. Nothing like that in Warsaw.

Merry Christmas, will be putting the cookie recipe on my blog soon.

  14. Janean,
Haven't been to the Plaza since I went as a child with my parents. I remember all the sights and sounds and the horses! (Always wanted a pony for Christmas! HA!)
Here on the Prairie, we usually drive to a lighted park nearby and listen to their Christmas music and the lighted displays. Then it's home to hot cocoa and cookies!
    Enjoy your Holiday season, dear!
    Thanks for the memories!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  20. I enjoy going to Phipps in Atlanta to see the Christmas Decorations and watch the shoppers!
But growing up in KS MO, I have a special place in my heart of memories for the Country Club Plaza. Truly a very unique place all year around but especially at Christmas. On the rare occasions over the past 23 years that we've been fortunate enough to visit KC over the Christmas time, we always have to visit the Plaza, what a thrill!

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

  21. Wow, that's really fantastic, Janean!! I've never seen anything like that in person.

We don't have anything even close that here, but we will drive around the nice neighborhood in our town that has a lot of Christmas lights on "our Christmas Eve" which is Wednesday, the 22nd. Daughter won't be here from the 23rd night to the 26th, so we have our Christmas early.

Years ago now, Jim and I visited this place named "Cullen Gardens" in Whitby Ontario, which has since closed, but on a frosty December night, we took the light tour through the gardents and Miniature village and it's the closest thing to your lovely place, that I can recall. It was all snowy and magical.

Hope you have a blessed weekend,
    Linda

  23. That's just amazing. Looks like they go all out.

This is going to sound a little bogan but I promise it's not. The brewery put on a light display here every year and have since I was a child. People from far nd wide make the trek. We still go every year but it's nothing like your Plaza display.

There is something though about tradition and having these rituals that makes Christmas seem so much more special !
