In 1991 a beautifully haunting film, "Raise the Red Lantern" was released. Set in 1920s, the movie (which is subtitled), tells the story of a young woman who becomes one of the concubines of a wealthy man in China during the Warlord Era. The movie is noted for its opulent visuals and sumptuous use of colors. The red lantern was symbolic throughout the movie, so let's celebrate red. Red symbolizes anger, passion, love, pain and sacrifice and those words describe the movie.

There's a popular saying when you want to keep a secret: *Mum's the Word.* It comes from the sound of 'mmmm' humming sound made with a closed mouth. I adore mums. In fact for my wedding I had roses and spider chrysanthemums! Who else likes mums in decor, gardens or in fashion? "Mirror, Mirror on the wall...." When I was growing up, if someone had more than the basic necessity of mirrors in their home, they were considered conceited or in love with their own image. In spite of it, I adored the sparkle of mirrors. Mirrors have always seemed festive and fascinating. It still amazes me that a mirror can double a room, its light or an object. My favorite mirror is Venetian. It's like having a diamond on the wall!
Do you have the basic necessity of mirrors or more? And like the last picture, there have been times I didn't like what the mirror *said* to me either! Anyone know what I mean? LOL.
