I Don't Ever Want It To End

My favorite time of day is about 90 minutes before sunset, especially in autumn! The long shadows move me emotionally. The air is *clean* and colors are brilliant. I don't ever want the day to end. If it's not too cold, I enjoy eating things outdoors like homemade pumpkin soup from a fab pumpkin tureen. Otherwise, a mug of hot cider will do! And, I want firelight either by a fire pit, Chimnea or candles...lots of candles. Do you like early evening? Do you enjoy meals outside in autumn?

  1. Fall is such a special time, Janean. We all slow down alittle from all the summer activities. With the days getting shorter and cooler, we just naturally go in and get that nesting feeling. I love that last picture. Give me some mulled cider and I'm set!
    Love and hugs,
    Robin

  2. Wow! This post just put me in the moment. I love eating outdoors but where we live, there are so many gnats in the evening, you can't really enjoy it. Beautiful photos.

  3. Oh how gorgeous autumn is, and how you've captured all its warmth in this post!
    I LOVE that pumpkin tureen..gorgeous!
And the cider..yummm..warms the tummy and the cinnamon stick ..perfect with it.
I have those exact mugs and holders! I have the clear (as you've shown here) and the frosted ones! I'll have to take them out again and put some hot cider in them... :)

Oh Janean, you are such a blessing!!
You know beauty when you see it..you have an eye for it.
    Autumn blessings sweet friend!

  4. This is absolutely my FAVORITE time of year. LOVE that fire pit! So pretty! We had a fire in our fire pit last night, just the kids and me. It was nice. We found some GARGANTUAN marshmallows to roast and they were perfectly gooey! :)
    Love autumn evenings. Perfection. :)

  5. Janean, if I had a porch like that one in the last picture, I would MAKE SURE that I spent every evening out there waiting for the sun to set! But these days I'm just glad the day is almost over and after dinner I retreat to my play room and try to spend some time working on projects. That's what give my day a happy ending!

    Take care, Becky

  8. It all looks yummy. I love sunrises and they don't hurt so much if I am alone. But sunsets if I am alone make me so lonely. I love them when I have someone by my side. My favorite time too is just before the sun goes down in that magic time of day, when you know if you just looked carefully, you could see a fairy or two.
We are having a storm today and we just had a earthquake. It could be a busy Monday. :)

  10. Oh-my whole comment disappeared. I hate when that happens. I basically said that I thank you for the reminder that Fall is fleeting and we need to get out and use our firepit before Winter settles in - Hugs- Diana

  11. Janean,

You have just described one of my perfect moments. If I could find a location that had "autumn" year round, I'd move there in a NY minute!

  13. All of the things you mentioned are things we love to do too. The rains have started here now, and we'll be thrilled to see a sunny day once in a while until the end of November. I'm happy when the ponds overflow and I can hear the stream rushing downhill to the tunnel under the road and into the lake on the other side - something very comforting about rain on the roof at night.

  31. I love that you wrote about this - beautifully written and.... the time of day that you wrote about is my FAVORITE time of day year round. To me, it is the magical time of day. I love it!

We don't really eat outside in the Autumn because my husband doesn't arrive home from work until 6:30 p.m. and thus it's already getting dark and much cooler out by then. But... we do love to have campfires in our backyard and to be outdoors in the fall.

    Great post!

  32. I appreciate early evening very much. I'm not one for eating outside, but your picture of the glowing leaf centerpiece does pull me out. I would enjoy a warm evening in that atmosphere.

  33. Love the fall. Although, unless it's cold here, the mosquitoes are too bad to eat outside at dusk. (unless you're at the beach.) But love it!
