Mum's the Word...

There's a popular saying when you want to keep a secret: *Mum's the Word.* It comes from the sound of 'mmmm' humming sound made with a closed mouth.  I adore mums. In fact for my wedding I had roses and spider chrysanthemums! Who else likes mums in decor, gardens or in fashion? Photos: Mum Dishes; Spider Mum; Spider Mum Wedding Cake; White chrysanthemum; Mum pillow; Mum hassock and paperweight.

  1. Love 'em! The mum dishes are very modern and chic! What a beautiful shade of green. I would love to have the pillow and hassock. Oh, yes, I do love mums! Beautiful post (as always!).

  4. Janean, when I lived in the northeast, where mums are annuals, I loved them! They were always the right bit of texture, the perfect punch of color.

Then I moved to the mid-Atlantic states where mums are aggressive perennial weeds that we can never clear from the garden. So now they are the enemy.

  5. Hey Girl,
Nothing like a good mum for fall! They are the last bit of color we get to see in Illinois, before the cold comes. Hope you are having a good day.

  7. There isn't a flower that I don't love, but mums are special to me, because my mummy always had mums growing in her flower beds....love the distinct fragrance they have.
    Hugs,

  8. I'm with Tennis Girl...the only mums I really like and get excited about are the vast collection of them at the stores or garden centers in the Fall. They are glorious. I have planted them in my garden (more on an impulse) and they fail to impress....

  10. I love mums, too! They do really well around here (Alabama), coming back year after year. I can't imagine fall without mums and the color they bring. I'm also a huge fan of marigolds. You can't beat a low-maintenance flower, IMHO. : ) Melissa

  31. Oh, mums remind me of High School. At homecoming football games the boys would buy huge mum corsages with the school colors and ribbons for their dates.
