Mirror Mirror...

"Mirror, Mirror on the wall...." When I was growing up, if someone had more than the basic necessity of mirrors in their home, they were considered conceited or in love with their own image.  In spite of it, I adored the sparkle of mirrors.  Mirrors have always seemed festive and fascinating.  It still amazes me that a mirror can double a room, its light or an object.  My favorite mirror is Venetian. It's like having a diamond on the wall!
Do you have the basic necessity of mirrors or more? And like the last picture, there have been times I didn't like what the mirror *said* to me either! Anyone know what I mean? LOL.

  5. Those mirrors are so beautiful. I put a mirror above the fireplace and my husband said, "Who does that? You can't even see in it!." He just doesn't get it! LOL
And as for the mirror mirror on the wall...I haven't been the fairest in years! Oh well!
    Blessings!

  6. I love the way mirrors enhance a room...but when I look into them I am sure they do not make them like they use to. In the bathroom at my church is the best mirror and light scource ever. It takes at least five years off your age when you look into it.:)

  7. Yep, I love mirrors, and paintings, and anything decorative, come to think of it. LOL! Love the little dog in the mirrow! Too cute!

  8. Every house should have at least one over-the-top, sparkly mirror. A few weeks ago I found one in my favorite, elegant consignment shop. I stepped outside to think about it for a minute and ...you guessed it......it was gone! Ah well, the hunt is half the fun.

  9. Oh, I know what you mean! I adore mirrors but they have to be old and weathered and worn. I have them everywhere. This place looks like a dang carnival funhouse.

  10. Those mirrors are lovely, but the pretty little sweetie with the hand mirror won my heart hands down! Isn't that the cutest? Have a great weekend!

  13. Those are beautiful mirrors! Our home only has mirrors in the bedrooms and bathrooms...functional rather than decorative. However, I've thought about putting a decorative one near the front door so I can at least check and make sure I don't have broccoli in my teeth or something like that before I answer the door! lol

  14. Actually I recently wrote a poem about the mirror and where the girl I use to know went!!
We have a mirror over our fireplace mantel. It matches the furniture we bought at Crate & Barrel for the family room. I have to stand on my toes to see myself because I'm short. Love the mirrors you displayed.

  17. I have the basics, plus one antique over my piano-just 'cause the piano is antique and it makes my room look bigger. Uh oh, is that the same thing??

  18. I especially love the horizontal mirror. I have a trifold mirror on my high boy that have a very similar feeling as the mirrors you posted but not quite as ornate. I love your collection!

  19. Lovely mirrors! And now you have me thinking...I have only one mirror in my house just for 'pretty'. Of course we have the functional mirrors...bathrooms, dressers, etc. But we have only one pretty, framed mirror and it is in the parlor. I might need to start paying more attention to mirrors! :)

  21. I do love a pretty mirror! I love all the light they can add! I do have one HUGE mirror by my front door & it is terrible...it seems to add like 20 pounds to people. It is huge though & fits the space so perfectly but i try hard not to look in it...it can ruin a girls day! :) LOVE the pic of the puppy taking a peek :) so sweet!

  24. Oh what gorgeous mirrors! I don't want to be like the last one, though. Hopefully, we will always have a sweet spirit, instead of a mean spirit when we look in that mirror!

  25. I think your post was fated Janean.

I've been looking for an ornate gilt mirror for months as part of a project I want to do and kept coming up empty handed. you posted this yesterday and today I found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

The deco mirrors in your post are similar to the ones I want for my bathroom...if we ever get round to renovating it.

We inherited an old mirror from Warren's Grandmother and it is a favorite of mine. I like mirrors as long as I am not in them...lol.

  29. That second mirror is beautiful, I would really love to have that in my home. I have a couple special mirrors. They are placed to be useful, but also have sentimental value. I haven't liked what my mirror has been telling me for quite sometime now! :)

  32. Hi sweet Janean,
Thank you so much for your birthday wish and your sweet comments on my blog!!!

I love mirrors on my walls, but I don't particularly like looking in them anymore......

The mirrors you've posted are so beautiful, but I especially love the one with the puppy....probably because I love animals.

  33. I love mirrors. I didn't know until now what a Venetian mirror was. I have lots of mirrors, but definetly not for me to look in.EEEEK.
I love the way mirrors reflect what is in the room and since I have been taking pictures for my blog, I love looking to see what is reflected in the picture.
    Great subject.

  36. Hello Janean ~I've truly missed my visits, but little by little I'm catching up.
Although last month was difficult with our loses a new month has brought new hope.
I poured myself a cup of tea and read a spell...These mirrors would really make a gorgeous statement in any room.
I'm still in search of a grand framed mirror that will replace the wall mirror at the end of my hallway. I do like the fact you can get a last minute check on everything before heading out. Having a white kitty... it's a must.

    Come on by!

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara

  38. Funny I don't remember that idea that having a lot of mirrors meant someone was conceited. I do, however, a few people I've known that you could tell that about them by the way they looked into a mirror. LOL

  39. Janean,

I too love mirrors and what they add to a room. The rectangular Venetian is stunning. The yorkie checking out her appearance is adorable.
