Sleeping With The Enemy Decor

Julia Robert's character lived in two extremely different, but equally beautiful homes in this
movie. I've only seen the TV version, but I drool over the beach house, but then adore the Iowa home!  Which one are you - small town cottage or contemporary beach house? Photos from top: Country Living; Contemporary Kitchen; Actual home movie was filmed in!

  2. Thank you so much for coming and visiting me at my blog. I love new visitors. I will definitely be back for a visit to yours. It is lovely ...for me it as to be the cottage, the swing just needs to be sat in wit a cup o tea and a book!! ( maybe a pussycat or two!)

  4. Now how did you manage to get a shot of my 'beach' house my dear? heehee. This to me would be a year round home, as the sights and sounds would drown out all issues around me.. and then I'd stop blogging. Nope that can't be!

    with love,
    Olivia

  5. Oh...let's see. I am definitely a small town wannabe... I love cottage....bungalow..."not too shabby" comfort. I love the kitchen pic, and of course the porch swing. Oh to have a wrap-around porch... swoon. The attitude of a beach home, though...laid back, relax, don't mind the sand, kick your feet up is desired anywhere. The farmhouse mentality of a little dirt here, a little dirt there...never hurt anybody. When you garden, and have lots of critters, and are outdoors as much as indoors, it just doesn't matter so much. Love it all! I'm definitely no city girl...
:-) love your posts... Keepin the dreams alive.

  11. There are times when I think I could really get into a loft or uptown sophisticated style.I even have some photos clipped in my little stash.
But most generally, I am a laid back, low key, down to earth king a gal!
(I wathed that movie again awhile back...it still scares me)
    Have a wonderful day...donna

  12. Not that is a good question
Of course from the movie..it is the cottage...especailly when she transforms it..loved her geraniums..
but the lure of the ocean
    I think would win
    my heart

  13. Oh, I'm definitely the small town cottage, but it would be nice if I knew someone who owns the beach house so I could go visit from time to time! :o) Becky

  14. Forget the houses (I like both) but let me live in that swing. WOW if I only had a covered porch!!!

  15. I love cottage, lived in comfortable.
I love small town, but not to far away from the big city where I can get my wool and fabric fixes.

  16. I love small towns whimsical cottages. I appreciate the functionality and clean look of contemporary spaces. But if I had to pick one over the other, I'd take that cottage in small town Iowa.

  17. Definitely small town!
I'll have to show The Great Dane that swing. I think I need one on the veranda.

  18. I HATE the beach home - - - toooooooo sterile. Not homey AT ALL.

Like the beach - - -hate that house.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Iowa home. I would move in there in a heart beat.

    Loved that movie, btw!

  19. I love the cottage -- can we transfer it to the beach? ;)

  20. Interesting idea. I always felt like the contemporary house on the beach was her husband's idea of beauty, not hers. To me it was cold and controlling like him. She had lived in his "world", for so long, her little Iowa cottage was who she really longed to be without him dominating her. I'm definitly NOT a fan of contemporary.
    Great post.

  21. debra, you're DEEP! i never thought of that, but now that you mention it, she wanted to wear the white dress to the party (her taste) but he strongly preferred the backless ?red? dress (his taste)....

  22. i remember this movie...and how desperately i wanted to live in the cottage. i am definitely all about the cottage.

i was also really terrified of the husband. for a long time afterwards, i contemplated being single for the rest of my life!

  23. I could so nap on that porch swing/bed.

  25. I would pick a small cottage in a beach town. But then again, anything near the ocean would be just fine with me.

  26. I'll take the porch swing, beach and the light airy one. Thank you very much....:)

  27. I am attracted to both but prefer the small town cottage (with an ocean view, even better!). The porch swing looks like a dream to me.

  28. Oh I love these! I really liked the last post too! I just saw that movie again the other day! I was living in Wilmington, NC at college when Julia Roberts filmed part of that movie (first house) You couldn't get anywhere near it! The carnival was there and you could go for free as you were considered an extra in the movie. I have to admit though I really liked the second house the best! More my style! I have been so hooked on You've Got Mail lately and just LOVE her sweet little apartment!! These are fun posts!

  31. These decors are gorgeous but I am a small town cottage. But, I am sure I could move into a beach home like the one pictured and be oh, so happy.

    Love my visits here!

  32. Well, I always wanted 3 homes: A cabin in the mountains, a penthouse in the city and a cottage on the beach. I have none of the above! I suppose our home resembles a cottage, yet I'm falling for a simpler French style. Thanks for stopping by my V day brunch.

  33. Love them both!!
Thanks so much for stopping by my new blog. I'm just getting the hang of all this. I travel around the country doing quilt shows, (30-36 a year) so I get to meet some amazing people. Maybe I will meet you someday. We are in San Mateo, CA right now doing a show at the Events Center.

  34. Oh, the cottage house most definitely. I'm not big on the contemporary look. I like it but not for myself. A little to austere for me.

  35. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog..:)
I ven't seen the movie.. bt for me it is the cottage..:)

  36. I am small town cottage all the way. However, I can definately do contemporary beach house for a week of vacation.

  37. You have to ask? Ok, I'll humor you. Contemporary Beach House....Naw, just kidding. You know it's small town cottage for me! I can appreciate the beauty of some contemporary pieces but I just have a thing for scrolly and swirly instead of straight and pointy. Unless it's George Straight...

  38. Although I would love living on the beach, the house was way too contemporary for me. I loved the other hope she lived in. I didn't remember it was in Iowa, but I have seen it several times. I still get scared for her when I see the towels in the bathroom.
    I love that porch swing.

  39. I'm definitely the country girl - the porch swing girl..love it and love mine.
Thanks for stopping by now back to look at more of your blog.

  41. My style would be the cottage -not the bach house. They moved scared me big time! Thanks for visiting my blog! Yours is lovely and fun! What could be better thanthat!

  42. Hi Janean, I am definitely the Iowa house for sure. The beach house is too cold and bleak for me. The bungalow just wraps you in it's arms and says welcome home.

  44. That is my favorite movie of all times... as many times as I have watched it... now I just skip to the Night that she died so that she could live and go straight to Beautiful house and memorize every detail.. LOVE IT..
