It's Sunday So Refocus

Before the day is done take time to refocus. All this past week everyone and everything has been competing for your thoughts, your attention and your energy, right?  Take a few moments to breathe deeply; maybe soak in the tub. Drink a cup of the best green tea (shown below) you can afford and refocus on your goals. Sunday is a day for resting and worship but you cannot do either very well in chaos.  Is your life kind of "crazy" right now?  Is it difficult for you to allow yourself REST and refocus time?

  1. All too true, so i will go and do that right now! thanks for the thought. Sometimes you get so busy you really do forget to breathe.

  2. Oh, Janean, you don't know how! But I'll listen you and stop a little bit, just to think about myself and my life... and refocus!! Good post!

  3. That's all well and good, but when the devil is trying to knock down your door, steal your peace and your joy, sometimes you just have to stand up and fight - and pray the peace and joy can be found when the battle is over! I'm jut saying . . .

  7. Too true Janean! If we don't take care of ourselves, how can we take care of everyone else? I like that you ask us to breathe and refocus rather than just relax... very well said!

  9. Janean, yes it is very hard to STOP and REST! I've dealt with a cold for the last four weeks and just can't stop and rest. With a new job and no sick leave time yet, I just keep plugging along. But I know that God didn't intend it to be that way.

  10. Thanks, Janean, for a delightful reminder.

Actually my life is pretty easy right now - January has been a super fun month. I did my refocus last night in the way of rocking it out at a christian concert with daughter and friends. Might sound like an odd way to calm oneself, but not for me - music, even loud music (with a message), does it every time.

Hope you have a great start to a new week. :)
    Blessings always,
    Linda

  12. That looks delicious and beautiful. I have read that persimmon leaves make good tea.
I will try it someday as we have lots of persimmon trees in my neck of the woods.

  13. Amen Janean! Sunday at my house is a day of rest. We go to church (late service so we can sleep in,) go out to eat, go home and chill...nap, play a game, read or watch a movie or football or just whatever we want to do and just put the world away for a day. Snacks or sandwiches for supper and each is on his own 'cause momma doesn't cook on Sunday. God made us and he knows we need to rest and refresh or we burn ourselves out and then we are no good to ourselves, those we love or to the one who made us.

  15. Janean,
Funny, I just poured myself a cup of Harney & Sons, Peppermint Herbal tea, light some candles on my desk and am relaxing by blog hoping. I spent the day cleaning and rearranging kitchen cupboards and the pantry. I made the "food" part of the pantry smaller so I could add more "dish pantry" space, lol! Enjoy what is left of your Sunday!

  16. Great post. :) I think most of us have forgotten HOW to think of ourselves...to allow ourselves to recharge when needed. I'm getting better at it though. :) That's one of the things about being 'over 40' that I don't mind...I'm so much wiser than I was at twenty-something! ;)

  17. A timely and encouraging post Janean. The photos are soothing too. I have been trying to do exactly as you say--rest and refocus.

  18. It's hard to re-focus today since I've been watching two great football games.

George and I drink green tea every morning when we take time (that is our re-focus time) to have our 30 minute devotional...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. Too true, Janean - great advice. Sometimes my weekend motto is 'It is good to do nothing all day, and then rest afterwards.'

  22. Janean, this post just let me sigh and take a deep breath. A week ago, one of our oldest and dearest friends passed away. It has been a roller-coaster week... and, I enjoyed taking a deep breath while visiting the Old Sweetwater Cottage. =)
