We wandered in off the cold streets into Williams Sonoma. They were serving samples of their yummy apple cherry twists. As we delicately munched on the fare, we naturally were drawn to the coffee machines. "Would you like a cup of coffee from this machine?" a pleasant young woman asked. "Sure!" we both chimed. She poured the coffee beans into the top and in just a minute or so, she served us THEE best coffee i had ever
tasted. "Wow! Honey, we could use a coffee maker like this," i pointed with my pinky."How much is it?" i asked.
"$2,499.00," she smiled sweetly. i looked for myself as i picked up the price tag with my trembling hand (was it the espresso or dollar sign?).
We gently strolled AWAY from that fabulous DeLonghi Gran Dama Espresso Maker. We've always agreed that "you get what you pay for," but the expressway-fast espresso maker was out of our league. It's back to our Black and Decker coffee maker, but that was one great cuppa "joe!" What kind of coffee maker do you own? Any espresso lovers? The vintage coffee pots are from Laurel Leaf Farm.com and are more in my price range! LOL.

ReplyDeleteOh Janean. You are talking my language today. You know I roast my own beans right? I'd give a limb for the coffee pot you are talking about. I drink a pot, yes a pot of espresso every morning, but just out of a little cheap espresso maker, nothing fancy. I just can't drink 'regular' coffee. It tastes so watered down to me. Go strong or go home! :-) How much do you LOVE Williams and Sonoma!?

ReplyDeleteOkay okay, so we all love our coffee. I just hate to spend 5 bux on one everytime.. so I've learned to create new flavors at home and still feel like I'm treating myself.. on a daily basis.

I can remember camping and boiling coffee over an open fire, than pouring a cup of cold water to settle the grounds. Now that was good coffee, or was it just the fact that we were around a campfire. Loved it.
There's a Hamilton Beach coffee maker in our house but it belongs to my husband. If only coffee tasted as good as it smells. I just never learned to drink the stuff. It's hot chocolate all the way for me. I do know my son would absolutely love the one you talk about although the price would definitely put him and my husband off.
ReplyDeleteI am a seasoned drinker and connoisseur of various coffees. My preference is Folgers ~ it’s freshly ground aroma inspires our household on those early cold quivery mornings ~ big smile!
ReplyDeleteI have to fess up and say we own a Saeco, Royal coffee maker. My hubby got it for me when we first moved to the States from Germany. It does grind the beans, makes "normal" coffee, espresso and cappuccino. It is my baby, but since I drink a lot of coffee it was well worth it. And I'm with Jayme, go strong or go home. My grandpa always said the weak stuff tastes like "somebody tied a coffee bean to a faucet and turned the hot water on"...
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were looking at the Keurig for him (I don't drink coffee) and were about to buy it when we decided to hold off .... well the very next day, I won their best model at a fundraiser! Since he is the only one in the house who drinks coffee, that cup at a time works wonderfully for him ...

Williams and Sonoma is one of my favorite shops! They tempt for sure! Love my Capresso from there. Grinds and brews the most wonderful cup of coffee! Not the same as the De Longhi though! Can't justify that! LOL! The old pots are beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteThe vintage pots are pretty. We use a Black & Decker coffee maker with a thermal carafe. I enjoyed reading your blog and would gladly spend more time here. Since I just found you this afternoon I would like to say that I also do January cleaning and I agree it seems like the right time to do it.
ReplyDeleteAh, those coffee machines are to be envied for sure! Still, I feel at home with the top photo much more so than the DeLonghi. We use an Aero Press which really makes super, super coffee and it only cost about $22. And, it is smaller than our Burr grinder. Thank you for stopping by Quiet Paths because now I can visit you!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Bunn...a gift from our daughter and her husband 3 Christmas's ago. I also have a French coffee press, which I LOVE. The Bunn is super quick, with coffee ready to pour in about 1 minute. I only drink 1 cup a day...but I want it right straight as soon as I get up!

ReplyDeleteOuch...that is expensive! We do have a at-home espresso (Mr. Coffee) machine that my daughter can turn out a pretty mean mocha with...but I agree...a french press makes a great cup!

People are going to hate me, but I've never drank a whole cup of coffee in my life. I wouldn't know good from bad. I'm a tea drinker. I love the vintage pots though.

ReplyDeleteI just got rid of my $159 Cuisinart Grind & Brew after a few years of having it. I am in between makers but using a $15 20oz maker I just love. I'm the only one in the house who drinks coffee and the clean up is a breeze!!!!!
