At first glance, I would pass this pie plate up....snub my nose....however....
Who would have thought a "floppy" pie plate would make such a wonderful pie shape? The real secret: one of these little handy crust pressing tools! You could probably use any small cookie cutter, but it wouldn't have the pressed design.
Do you make your pies simple or fancy? Are you asked to bring your "special" dish for Thanksgiving dinner or other special occasions?
The pie plate and pastry shaped cutters are all Williams Sonoma. I thought this little half apron, available on Etsy, would be the perfect color!

My sister? Makes the best crust on the planet - - - or at least she USED to when we were young and still practicing kitchen "arts"

Ok, I can cook, but my pies never look great. This one is beautiful. My daughter would have apron envy if she was on here. Last year I found several vintage ones on ebay for Christmas. She loved them. Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Reading your blog is a daily treat.

ReplyDeleteI love the pie dish and the cutouts. The little impressions are so much cuter than the little cookie cutters I use. It's my job to take pies, yams and to make gravy when I get there. My DIL's swithch off having dinner.

I did find it and did see the floppy pie pan, but gotta tell you, seeing your pie with that fancy crust, makes me think I want to do pies again! That pie of yours is just beautiful! I also saw little "gift" cake with bows! Thought wouldn't that be great to decorate for Christmas and put, "peace", "love", "health", etc on a cake, the real gifts of Christmas that money can never buy. I now have a "wish list" for Williams Sonoma! I just love your blog Janean, so warm and friendly.

What an adorable apron and beautiful pie!! It depends on how many pies I have to make as to fancy or plain- sometime you just dont have time for fancy with 8 pies!! This year I am not making a thing as we go to DH neice's house for Thanksgiving and she wants to do it all!

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I bought the little pie cutters last week when we were shopping after dinner one night. I've used small little leaf cutters before but they didn't leave the impressions. We bake pies year round so they'll get lots of use! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
