The carport-turn-into-workshop plan is going well. The base rock - not to be confused with chat *wink* - is being put in on the Clorox-clean dirt. (See previous posts if this sounds silly)
It's slow work. It's a challenge on the back, knees, arms and shoulders. Why? Well, part of the reason is we're not in our 20's, 30's or even 40's. (Did I just admit that?) And secondly, it was done one shovel load at a time by my honey.
I asked to help, but still feeling badly about the migraine incident, he said he'd rather me just sit upwind and visit with him. Beside, it won't take long. And the chill in the air gives him energy.
"That's a lot of cha...base rock to move, honey. Are you sure I couldn't help somehow?" I asked.
"It's just one load at a time," he smiled and winked.
That's one of our philosophies of Life: One load. One step. One piece. One bite at a time and it will get done and you will get through it.
At the end of the lonnnggg day I fixed him a great dinner, then ran him a hot bath and brought him Advil, extra strength. Tired, cold and sore, but we "gotter done."

I knew I saw work in someone's future, yesterday. Glad it is all going well. I am sure your hubby enjoyed his wonderful dinner.

Wink...you did actually admit it. I remember your hubby telling us that after 40 you start falling apart. We were young so we were amused and thought...not us. Well, (cough, sputter)I am enjoying my last few days in my 40's and Advil has become my friend after days of working in the yard or house. Tell him he was a wise old man at 45 to give us this warning.

ReplyDeleteI told hubby if we didn't have gravel in our drive way before the first bad rain I was divorcing him. Well, I let him slide on a technicality 'cause I love him.
He put down "road base", rocks with dirt, that compacts to be used under...roads...with asphalt on top...I don't get the asphalt ...just PATCHES of gravel imbedded in...dirt... which will turn to mud evenutally. Anyway, I'm having a giveaway if you get a chance to come by!

I know how he feels! I just moved wheelbarrels full of mulch that's free from my town. But they only deliver to the curb and I needed it in my backyard. Aleve is my friend! Only nobody made me dinner! I'm sure your husband enjoyed the pampering!
