Do not ask me why, but I like rust. I don't like it on things that I don't WANT to rust, but I like the look of it. Maybe it's the color?
Maybe it's the idea that the item is not "prissy," but hard-working?
My mom always shook her head when I'd head toward the "rusties." She didn't see what I saw.
Whatever the attraction, it is all over these cast iron fishing weights for commercial fishermen.
I also like the fact they have numbers on them which indicate the weight in pounds. They'd look great sitting inside or out.
Any other "rusty-lubbers?"
I love them! I will have my eye on ebay & antique stores now for them, the would make great door stops!
ReplyDeleteI love rust also. It is like scratches in a wood floor or flaking paint, it reveals a life you only can wonder about. It is mystery, right?
ReplyDeleteRobin, I think you have a great point: history and mystery.

I also love rusty! I love putting old metal items in the garden and then watching them rust. I am a sucker for garden art that is already rusty. I think rust is beauriful.
ReplyDeleteJanean,

Hi Janean,
ReplyDeleteI love rust too! It's got that patina, that you just can't get at Pier 1 Or wallymart.
Great objects, and actually a great still life.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have had a nice time browsing and taking a look at your creative blog.
LOL! I like things that are rusty as long as they're not supposed to be rusty too. Those are great! I love tings with numbers and letters!
ReplyDeleteManuela
Those are SO neat!! Maybe I'll look at rust a little differently from now on... =)
ReplyDeleteI like rust, too. Hardworking like pumpkins! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI love that I've found another "rust lubber!" ;-) I love rust so much, and my husband just doesn't get it! So glad to hear there's someone else out there that does! ;-)
