I'm so blue....

In the English language, *blue* often represents the human emotion of sadness. The color blue makes many of us happy! I adore the color of denim. The ocean's blue is so soothing to me. Navy makes me feel *grounded* and secure. Azure is cheerful and Icy blue feels clean! Here are some examples of this wonderful color. Is there blue in your home? How does blue make you feel?

Blueberries in Black Peppered Juice
1  bottle of sparkling grape juice
1/4  cup  sugar (or to taste)
1  teaspoon  real vanilla
1/2 - 1  teaspoon  freshly ground black pepper
3  cartons (6 ounce) blueberries, rinse-drain
Twists of lemon peel

1. Pour juice and sugar into small pan and boil until reduced by about half or about 15 minutes. STIR OFTEN. Add vanilla and pepper and let cool.
2. Put blueberries in a bowl and pour Syrup mixture over them.
3. Chill airtight for at least 2 hours or up to 1 day.
4. Serve in small dessert bowls or glasses garnished with twists of lemon peel.

  1. Wow, that tureen and platter nearly took my breath away, what a beautiful piece. Blue and white are one of my favorite combinations for home decor.

  5. Oh, I love blue! My kitchen and breakfast area are painted a pretty chambray blue with a much paler blue ceiling. Below the blue paint is white painted beadboard, and this combination makes me peaceful and happy. I also have a sete of blue (kind of cobalt) toile dishes, and they make me very cheerful and happy. In other words . . . blue = happy!

Hope all is well with you!

  15. Good morning Janean! Other than my blue and white dishes and a bit of blue in a couple of area rugs I don't really have very much blue in the cottage. I'm thinking of doing our little bathroom in a blue/green (sea colors) one day. I really don't know why I haven't done more with that color but now that my hair is the color it is...maybe I'll incorperate it into my surroundings more ;) Have a WONDERFUL weekend....Maura :)

  16. I have blue all throughout my home. I think it is a very soothing color and is great to decorate with. It is hard to find decorator fabric in blue anymore and that makes me sad.

  37. I just changed my living room to a pale green sofa, cream walls and some tans, browns, and pale aqua. I miss the blue sofa since I had a lot of blue but I needed a change. Now I have a guest bedroom that will be white, blue and some granny Smith green as
accents. I am adding a small amount of blue to that room. But Thanks for the photos-I do love blue! I have 3 sons and have seen a lot of blue clothing for the boys over the years. Now I have to let go and let them pick their clothing. I am happy when I see some blue in their choices!

  38. Love those photos!

I'm not a blue person as a general rule, but my bedroom is papered with a cornflower blue and pink paper, which I find soothing. I chose a silky blue bedspread to match it. It makes a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere.

I feel the wonder here. Lovely blog! I found you from Karen Evans.

    Blessings in the Lamb,

  44. Hello Janean~ ~
I vote with Mrs. G! I scrolled down and boom, it sucked the breath right out of me. Blue is not one of my favorite colors, so why this effect. I'm heading back to look at it again. The shape is splendid, isn't it?
    Good to see you again.

  47. Hello Janean,
I'm sorry it has been so long since I've dropped by. Our summer has been one of loving and caring for family...both young and old. I haven't even been as faithful to posting on my own blog. But I've thought of you many times this week in particular. I've thought of your dad's recent passing and while I know that you are grateful he no longer suffers in his earthly body, I also know that grief comes and goes...sometimes fleeting and sometimes lingering on. I just wanted you to know that you are still in my thoughts and prayers even though I may not get by as often as I'd like.

Love and hugs to you, my friend,
    Dianna
