How Does Your Garden Grow?

Few things are more soothing than a garden. I'm also a fan of interiors having a garden feel. A garden interior isn't fussy or stiff. It's organic. It begs you to take your garden hat off and drink some tea in the shade of an enormous oak tree. Let's see how *garden* translates indoors. Does anyone have a utility sink? Do you use it often?  Photos: 3-hemlock table; 4 - Martha Stewart.

  2. I love "garden rooms" too. In our previous yard we had space to make a small garden room but we scaled down a few years ago so we don't have as much space on our lot. My porch helps feel the gap but I still miss having that secret garden room.

  3. Janean,
Yes, we have one in our laundry room at the Inn. It was required to wash out mops, etc. We use it alot when we are outside to wash dirty hands from gardening, etc.
Hope you have a great day!

  4. Hi Janean,
Ah, garden envy. I'm in love with that old cabinet that holds all the potting stuff and the table setting with the burlap cloth....swoon!
Each one of these photos could be my dream garden, that's for sure.

Thanks for such a lovely, inspirational post.

  5. Oh wow! I want to jump into these pictures. Especially the one with the little "garden room"... with the draped curtains. I've seen this in outdoor restaurants in Mexico. Beautiful!
    Have a great Thursday.

  9. My husband really would like to have a utility sink in the garage. He does work on bicycles and a sink such as that would be so handy.

I've always loved having the outdoors indoors. It's comfortable.

  11. Janean,

I could look at these photos every day and find new inspiration each time. I have an old potting cabinet on my patio that looks exactly like the one pictured. I love it. So do the critters in the winter!

  13. Janean, these scenes are so tranquil :)
My husband is working on finishing our porch in out back of the house. It’s a big job~ It’s starts at one end of the house and wrap around the opposite end. Once it’s finished, we will work on putting a few small gardens together. I’m storing pictures for ideas. ~ I really like this page! Thank you, Kimmie

  14. Janean, these images are beautiful. I would love to have a "dreamy" backyard, but the heat around here (already beyond 100 degrees) precludes any enjoyment outdoors for me. Now, if I had a utility sink, or better yet a pool, perhaps I could be coaxed to spend a few minutes outside. Stay cool! ~ Angela

  15. I hope you had a very nice anniversary! I love my utility sink and use it as much as I use the one in my kitchen. It is so nice and deep. When I was a kid we had a outdoor kitchen in a old pump house,It had the neatest summer kitchen. Your pictures remind me of it.

  29. I can't wait for summer to really arrive so that we can eat all our meals, drink all our tea and read all our books on the veranda - as soon as the rain stops!
