YooHoo Decor

Cocoa, chocolate moo, malteds, Nestles, Bosco, Yoohoo...Depending on where you live, you have a name for cold chocolate milk. I grew up in a Nestles house, but discovered YooHoo in the south. WooHoo for YooHoo! I digress.... Anyway, today I'm focusing on that "chocolate milk" color for decor. I KNOW there's LOTS of chocolate lovers, so I'll ask: How did you make cold (or hot) chocolate milk when you were growing up?

"N-E-S-T-L-E-S. Nestles makes the very best...CHOK-LAT!"

  3. Janean,
Dad and I used to go down to the "filling station" on Saturdays and reach in the old chest cooler, filled with ice and bottles of pop. We would keep digging till we found the "Chocola." What a treat, very yummy and chocolatey! I don't see it anymore today. :(

  4. wow that paint color looks just like the color of chocolate milk. Wouldn't want to leave that around with toddlers!!!! {:-o Love the photos. We used Nestles Quik in the metal tin, and also Hershey's Chocolate in the can. It was a treat! And in school, we took our nickel to pay for the small carton of milk at breaktime, and you could get chocolate! They always carried in all the milks for the classroom in a red crate. And one child got chosen each day to take the collected milk monies over to the office with our tally. How fun recalling days past! Thanks Janean!

  5. Love hot chocolate, but not cold chocolate milk. In fact, I like hot chocolate with raspberry in it. As for decor, I love the taupes that are so very popular now. Blue and chocolate really go together in my books!

  6. Love me some YooHoo! :)
My mom's favorite color is just about any shade of brown. I find that I'm liking browns more and more these days, too.

  7. Ours was a homemade cocoa household when I was a child. Chocolate milk was something that could be bought for a nickel at school or had as a treat at my Aunt's house, where it came in a bottle and was called Creamo.
While I admire the colour scheme in a magazine photo I could never feel really comfortable in a brown and white/beige/cream room.

  8. Bosco, of course! We even had a shetland pony named Bosco - so named because he was the color of bosco syrup BEFORE it was diluted with milk! He was the funniest thing! He L*O*V*E*D watermelon and if we dared to try to save some and take it inside, he would follow us and try to get into the house. Yes, he was often left loose, and he never ran away. Also, he knew when we got home from school and met us out at the end of the road so one of us could ride him home. Since back in the olden days we couldn't wear pants to school, it was usually my brother's treat. AND, if you were riding him and he got tired he would just lay down with you sitting on top! I loved our old Bosco! Both the drink AND the pony!!!

  12. I haven't thought of Farfel in decades. Bosco either for that matter. We made chocolate milk with whatever Mom had on the shelf and that meant whatever was on sale at the grocery. My particular favorite was Ovaltine.

  16. It is a lovely color, isn't it? About the same color as when you add milk to tea. When I was young we drank Ovaltine, a chocolate malt.
The only hot chocolate memory I have is not so good...I was about 5 years old and we were camping in the mountains and my Mom had boiled water in a kettle on the campfire to make hot chocolate. She added some powder and then put the lid on the container and gave it a good shake to mix it all up. Well, I guess she didn't have her hand tight enough on the lid, because it came open and splashed all over the ground and on me. The next thing I remember was my mother frantically ripping my clothes off, so that that hot liquid would not soak through and burn my skin. Even with her quick action I did have some small burns on one of my arms.

  18. Love the colors and the pictures. I am not a milk person but when I did drink it we always had hot chocolate, homemade from Hersheys cocoa powder, in the winter time. I wouldn't drink any milk in the summer time.

    Love your blog.

  19. Ours was a Nestles household. I've always loved chocolate milk. And I love chocolate brown and pink together.

My husband and I use to get a Chocolate soda pop at a BBQ place we use to go to in Lee's Summit Mo. It was so good with BBQ, who would have thought!

All of the photos are nice, makes me want chocolate milk. :)

  30. Hi Janean - thank you for your visit today.

Those colors are beautiful - so peaceful and calm, without being boring.

We painted one of the backsplash areas in the kitchen with a chocolate brown paint, and I'm planning to use the remainder for part of my shelving project.

Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing them.
