Toasty Sunday

I get on food "kicks."  Do you? i won't eat toast for months, then that's all i want.  That's where i am now.  We've only owned maybe, two toasters in our married life.  Our current toaster is a nice Cuisinart, pictured below.  So due to my toast kick, this Sunday there's whole wheat toast.   Of course, there's always steaming coffee, ice-cold apple snow (apple juice and honey over crushed ice) in frosted glasses....and butter.  Not just any butter, but whipped butter.  I got the recipe (below) from a wonderful old restaurant whose next generation did not want to continue.  It's not like what you buy at the store.  What will you have on your toast?
Whipped Butter
With an electric mixer at medium speed, mix 1/2 pound of real butter and 1/2 pound of good quality margarine (sticks slightly softened) until well blended.  Beat in 1/4 cup of sour cream, a tablespoon at a time until smooth and fluffy.

  4. We have the same toaster and love it! I also go on food binges. I'll east something everyday and then all of a sudden, enough and then I'll never touch it again for months.

  5. Love the post today. Love the scripture.
The butter recipe sounds like Stephenson restaurant in Independence, Missouri. Which I don't think is there anymore not sure. It used to be a wonderful place to eat. They had an orchard there also and and fruit and vegetable stand they sold from . Oh the good old days.

  8. It's pretty much eggs for breakfast around here, as we have 10 layers. I fix them in different ways, but my favorite is once over lightly with some whole wheat toast.
    Always toast tho!

  9. Yes, I have noticed that most Americans don't know what "raclette" is. Well, everybody has a little pan as you can see on the picture in my post. You can put slices of ham, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and whatever you like in your pan and then a slice of cheese (mostly from France or Switzerland) on top of it. The heat melts the cheese and it tasts really good. The children love it because they can cook their own meal and the mothers love it because it doesn't need a lot of preparation!

  13. Just Breathe...
The butter stays as fresh as it would without the added ingredients. I only make a small amount, so it goes FAST....speaking of which, we'll be fasting this week after all our FEASTING! lol.
