No More Turkey!

It's  Sunday and I'm thankful for the abundance of food we ate at Thanksgiving, even though my silly jeans shrunk A-GAIN!  Hello?   I don't think I take food for granted.  I enjoyed every bite of turkey and all the "trimmings."  But I'm over it.

We drove by a few Waffle Houses on Thanksgiving night and they were PACKED.   It seemed to be mainly guys who were crowded inside gobbling up waffles and drinking steaming hot coffee from thick, white mugs.   I wondered if those guys offered to run an errand so they could escape the house full of company and avoid turkey leftovers a-gain?

I talked it over with my honey..........in Waffle House. Oh yeah!!!   "Waffles. An egg over easy. Hashbrowns - scattered and smothered. Your best cup of hot coffee. Pronto!"  My honey ordered as he winked at me across the booth.  Yeah, I'm one  thankful gal right now....

Anyone else go to Waffle House? If not, where do you go or what do you eat to "get back to normal?"

  2. Loved your comment about "getting back to normal". We only eat leftover turkey through Saturday at lunch. Thankfully, my mother-in-law loves to bring home all the leftover turkey to make turkey salad. On Saturday, I always make one of our favorites, a big salad, and that brings us back to reality after two days of pies, mashed potatoes and Turkey with gravy! :)

  3. Waffle House sounds wonderful right about now, so yes, I get it.

I think it is back to calorie counting for a while though- yuk. Sometimes that is a weary process!

    Enjoyed visiting

  4. Waffles sound good! Our Thanksgiving was in October, so it's a memory, but I like to have soup to get back to normal - soup and a really interesting bread from the bakery. This morning when my Great Dane wakes up he'll be treated to your honey butter - can't wait! The biscuits will be bakery-made though, as the you need two hands to make biscuits and I'm down to one for the time being!

  5. We like to go to waffle house occasionally. There is just something about it that seems to bring us back to the simple reality of life. Thanks for making me think about this, today. I need to get back to the simple reality of things today whether I visit waffle house or not.

  6. No waffle houses near me... but I got an All-clad waffle maker as a wedding gift, and homemade waffles are just about my favorite thing to eat in the world!

Maybe I'll even have those for dinner... yum....

I am over Turkey as well!

  7. Getting back to normal...may have to wait until 1/1/10! The holidays roll in and it is one festive event after the other. As much as I love the holiday season, I for one am always a little releived when the new year rolls around and we can chill out a bit!

Love your blog...have a wonderful holiday! (waffles sound yummy!)

  8. No Waffle House for us, but I got up this morning and made pancakes for the two of us. It was a nice change of pace. And yes, my jeans seem to have shrunk again. LOL

  10. Oh my goodness, I couldn't agree more. I'm making a greek pizza tonight with all the veggie and feta trimmings. Yummy. I'm going to make turkey and noodles and freeze it for a "no cook" night. By then I should have a taste for it again.

  14. Any place that we don't have to eat leftover turkey for the next few days! I'm thankful that we live in a land that has Thanksgiving, but I'm ready to get back to the every day living! Happy rest of the year to you, my friend.
