Better Button Up!

If every mom had a dollar for every time she told her family, "You'd better button up," indicating it's cold outside...well, she could hire a full-time valet to make sure everyone was properly buttoned up.
I adore buttons, so today I'm honoring The Button. Are there other button zealots or collectors?  Photos: Buttons by the jars; Button shoes; Button heart; Button earrings; Button mushrooms and Button nose!  Also, thank you Mari for the sunshine award. :)

Flattery or Compliment Decor?

No one likes flattery (if we know it's flattery). Flattery is insincere. The *flatterer* usually wants something from the *flatteree,* like a promotion or favor. A compliment, on the other hand is genuine praise.
Complimentary is also an idea for decorating. Each complimentary color intensifies the other.  Here are some examples of complimentary colors in the sunset and daybreak. Notice the color intensity are matched though. In other words, the orange is not neon orange with the faded blue.
Are compliments challenging for you to accept graciously? What do you do when someone flatters you? Photos: Table setting; Purse - Amazon; Earrings; Dining room; Sitting Room; Cat art by Tampa Cat Lady (couldn't get the link to work) and a guy who can't even hope for FLATTERY...He needs a wife, wouldn't you agree?

Old Yeller

*Old Yeller* was a big hit movie in 1957. Several years ago I saw the rented version.  "Old yeller" is a classic standby that can go with any style. The HUGE trick when buying it for your walls is that it should NOT look yellow on the little card, otherwise you'll be upset at your choice. You can trust me on this; I literally went through gallons of yellow. Waverly (sold at Lowes) has  "Buff Lemon" that's very soft; "Butter" which is a great buttery yellow and "Soft Cream." Ask for a sample.
Unlike the movie, old yeller (the color) will never die. Photos from top: Golden Yeller...yellow bedroom with lilac; Yellow cabinet - Country Living; Yellow buffet - Country Living; Vintage Dress and Yellow diamonds for the girly-girls! Of course, our inspiration, "Old Yeller."

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Sing along with me, 'Twinkle, twinkle little star....'  Who doesn't know this song? From the moment we learn it, we hum it to ourselves or sing it to babes the rest of our lives. One of the biggest thrills is standing outside on a clear night looking up at the uncountable number of stars. It reminds me how vast the universe is. In fact, I saw my first shooting star just three years ago! Stars can be fun do decorate with or wear. Who is a star gazer? Paper Roses

Marie Osmond sang "Paper Roses" back in 1973! Did you know that Anita Bryant first released it in 1960? (that was for the trivia lovers) Today I'm focusing on pink roses in our decor and gardens, but I had yellow roses in my wedding, so that may be a post in the near future. What color rose is your favorite? Did you have them at your wedding? Do you have them in your decor? Photos: Rose bedroom - Country Living; Rose Chandelier - click on photo for link; Kitchen Aid Vintage Rose mixer; Rose earrings - online; Rose colored flats; Rose cupcakes; Rose vintage card - Zazzle and Roses - the inspiration!

Bluebells, Cockle Shells...

In grade school we jumped rope to, "Blue bells;  Cockle shells...eevie ivy o--ver. I like coffee, I like tea, I like the boys and the boys like me!" So today I'll get my inspiration from this rhyme. Did anyone else jump rope to this?  Photos: ivy-covered cottage; blue bell flowers (the inspiration); silver dinner bell; shell wreath; steamed mussels; cockle shells (inspiration); rope placemats and coasters; girls jumping rope (inspiration)

YooHoo Decor

Cocoa, chocolate moo, malteds, Nestles, Bosco, Yoohoo...Depending on where you live, you have a name for cold chocolate milk. I grew up in a Nestles house, but discovered YooHoo in the south. WooHoo for YooHoo! I digress.... Anyway, today I'm focusing on that "chocolate milk" color for decor. I KNOW there's LOTS of chocolate lovers, so I'll ask: How did you make cold (or hot) chocolate milk when you were growing up?

"N-E-S-T-L-E-S. Nestles makes the very best...CHOK-LAT!"
