Buh-Bye Flesh. Buh-Bye Cream. Hellooo White!

Buy a home, along with most of its furniture. Swoon for white hydrangeas.

2. Take a bedroom that the precious, previous owner painted *flesh.* (sorry about the blur; my arms ached from moving furniture).

3. Did I mention the previous owner stuck the wallpaper seams down with bathroom silicone caulk (UNDER the flesh-colored PAINT)? You know that shiny, bright, rubbery white stuff guaranteed to never come off and also repels paint? Yeah that's it in the photo below the tape. It was every 18 inches. *sigh*  So, masking tape a line and texture above.
4. Be inspired by dried hydrangeas.  Take down fan and super-cheap trim.  Put up vintage chandelier with real Austrian crystals. Add wooden library panels and custom trim.  Put in wide plank pine floors.
5. Paint woodwork hydrangea and the walls a coordinating coffee color. Don't bother with a comforter, wall art or permanent drapes -- it's just so you can live with it until....WHITE! Glorious Norwegian-inspired white!

6. Behr is my hero.

7. Low luster covers in one coat.  It took maybe 30 minutes to paint.

8. The second gloss coat made my heart sing.

We painted the walls and ceiling "Mountain Gray" a stone-gray white. It's still curing (as is all the furniture I'm painting white). We haven't even put the chandelier plate back on the ceiling or plug covers on, but as things dry I'll post the progress if you'd like. Am I crazy for painting it ALL WHITE???

Well, if you are crazy I want the bed next to yours in the holding facility! I LOVE it...SOOOO fresh and clean looking. I can't wait to see it finished. I have a new "toy" that is gonna be as white as I can make it when I'm done! Loving what you did so far...what's the matter with you? You don't like flesh colored walls? My daughter's last house had that color throughout her WHOLE house-she barely got it all painted before he got transferred and they moved. Difference between night and day, isn't it? Diana

I think the white is so pretty! I love Hydrangeas, with their subtle shades of white - and all the little flower petals give them so much depth! Your room is gorgeous, I can't wait to see the finished project! I love the chandelier!

Hugs,
Barb

If you are crazy, you're in good company. The Fairfield House is in the process of becoming all white. Previous owners painted every wall that dingy primitive mustard yellow and all the 130 year old trim sage green. The walls not painted are papered in heavy, dark Victorian hues. I am celebrating with each stroke of white paint!

Deborah

I totally love it!!! I think it is just beautiful and I can't wait until your furniture is back. Wow, what a ton of work. We lived in a house with wallpaper like that and when we replaced the tile, they had used cement so I know all about the hard, hard, work you had to do. I think it is fantastic.

I don't think you are crazy for painting it all white! As innocent and sweet as a wedding, waiting for you to add the perfect little decorating touches...you can't go wrong! Just add a bit of textures here and there and you will do "white right!" :) Beautiful job!!!!

WOW, that's GORGEOUS!!! I'm jealous. We actually did paint our walls the flesh color, lol - throughout the living room, dining, kitchen and den. In our case, it's called "Nutmeg Frost". I really wish we had wood floors. Our house is all very standard.

Anyway - good job!
Blessings always,
Linda

Janean, what a great job. I dislike wallpaper, just for that reason. Love your design and good taste! Now you can enjoy!

I say it's different, inspired and very chic! Super daring! Just put a sign on the door: no food, beverages, pets or dirty people allowed - LOL! :-D

(ps: LOVE your floor, wow! inspiring!)

First, the first and second nursery pics are my favorite. They look so clean and comfortable!
Second, I do NOT think you are crazy for painting everything all white! I wish I had the guts (and the ok from hubs) to do it! I'm afraid with a toddler and 2 large dogs rolling through here, I would be doing nothing but touching up with paint all day! I love it, and I cannot wait to see the final reveal!
